I would definitely move then. Kidding...my point was really geared toward the importance of getting your tires balanced when rotating. While I appreciate the convenience of mobile service, for the same price you might as well take it to a shop and get them balanced.
Despite being aligned with Google in numerous ways, Rivian chooses to use the crappy Mapbox SDK for its nav. Makes no sense to me, maybe a cost thing? Google Maps please and thank you.
If a manufacturer sells a car that is difficult or expensive to insure, I imagine that could hurt sales. A relative with a Tesla Model S here in California, with a not so stellar driving record, can only get insurance through Tesla directly. Everyone else said no.
Apples and oranges. A universal charger put in at an existing mall differs from a purposely built Super Charger where density, customer turnover, and reliability are paramount.
Shorter cables are cheaper, deliver power faster, and are thinner, making them easier to handle. They are better in...
Wasn't necessarily by choice, they needed the government incentive and that was a requirement.
Anyway...just found this and apparently Tesla is releasing one as well:

I don't know, they were here first after all. Implemented short charging cables which makes the most sense from a cost, power, and reliability standpoint. If a charge port can be located anywhere on a car and you put it in an incompatible place, I don't see how you can blame the established...
Broken record, but I squarely blame Rivian for this mess by purposely not locating it's charge port on a part of the vehicle that made it compatible with both SC and Tesla home charger locations.
Their bandaid fix was the NACS adapter but they should have provided a NACS extension cable...
Design team: RJ, we want to put the charge port on the front passenger side to make it easier to charge at Tesla SCs and for those that have a Tesla home charger. It will also make street side charging possible.
RJ: Nope
Not sure why anyone would pay for mobile service to do a tire rotation when America's / Discount Tire will:
- Balance your tires. Mobile service does not, and balancing is a MUST given the rapid and uneven tire wear on these vehicles.
- 9 times out of 10 will do it for free.
FYI unless they...
At least you all have maps. Mine have been "offline" for the better part of the year and no route guidance either. Mobile service couldn't fix, service center appt at the end of the month.
Appreciate the "shop local" mentality but if you at all have access to an America's / Discount Tire I HIGHLY recommend doing it there instead. These things aren't easy to lift and would not trust anyone that hasn't done it before. Not only do they already have the pucks, 90% of the time they...
Why have Tesla SCs been so reliable? A lot has to do with the short charging cables. Long cables are charger killers and now every charger retrofit will make things worse, not better.
If you're going to standardize the port shape and technology, you also need to standardize the port location...
