This is one of my favorite features of the Dune. Frustratingly, there is still carpet on the seat back and in the cargo area (a big miss IMO). I think Rivian would do well to morph the Adventure trim into a higher-durability get-it-dirty set of materials that includes this new flooring material...
My Tesla did this to me a couple of times. Never on the R1s. It is unnerving the first time it happens. They really ought to tell customers that it is rare but no big deal if it happens.
Both of our chargers are rated at 32A (Rivian mobile and a 2011 aerovironment from when the Leaf was first introduced). I have never found a need to upgrade the units even though the are both on dedicated 50A circuits. That said, I plug in whenever I get home. No TOU so I set to 70% and forget it.
The people who run the Saudi PIF are very savvy and demanding investors who won't throw money away. Lucid's efforts to support the IKTVA (in Kingdom Total Value Added) agenda by putting an assembly plant there has bought them some more time, but the idea that "Saudi money" is some bottomless pit...
I think you should get out more and even hail an autonomous vehicle from Uber next time you are in Texas to give Waymo or May a try. FSD is behind but that is no surprise to anyone. That is why Tesla has already acknowledged that it's robotaxi launch is Austin will be neither Robo (ie...
With $200k+ worth of Rivian's sitting in my garage, if they actually ask me for another $50 / month for this it will likely blow up my relationship with the company.
Once they get it working, they need to take a page out of GM's book and for the higher end vehicles and trims give 3 years...
Hopefully Lucid will survive as a tier 1 auto supplier where the industry can benefit from its designs and does not just get absorbed into a bigger player.
Well, I came here to learn about the new L3 driving coming to our Gen 2s (pretty exciting). I've read through the 7 pages of the thread and I think the summary is:
RJ has made a bold claim that Level 3 is coming to the Gen 2 R1
yeah, well Tesla sucks
I don't want it anyway, real men drive...
We've had our Dune R1S for 2 months. I confess that I seriously love it. I prefer driving it to my R1T (which has been awesome) and steal it from my wife whenever the opportunity arises. I love the interior, love the exterior and especially the color match wheels, love the way it does not show...
FWIW, my wife drives 100% Sport mode in her Tri-Motor R1S as well. She likes the tighter feel and responsiveness. It seems to have a negligible impact on efficiency. I think it is totally fine. I drive my Dual R1T in AP. Personal preference.
Congrats on the Dune. Holy cow if you are only getting 1.5 miles / kw! FWIW, we swapped our Dune R1S tires for Michelins (same wheels) and we're averaging > 2.4 miles/kwh in spirited driving over the past 2,000+ miles.
When I saw the big price bump I assumed that Rivian was polishing this up for a sale. Build out to a reasonable size, tidy up the development pipeline, show positive EBIT (price rise) and sell to another network. That is my guess.
(OTOH - don't hate me - when we bought the Dune R1S lat month...
Yes, that is what it means. Going 80% - 60% each day for a week would be one cycle.
However, as I am sure you know, in addition to cycle degradation, there is also time-based degradation (aging). The aging degradation is the more significant of the two and is accelerated when you hold a battery...
I've had a plug melt due to a loose connection as well. Recently my homeowners insurance company sent me these devices from Ting that monitor all of the electrical circuits and notify you if there is an anomaly. (Homeowners provided them for free but they sell on website for $99.)...
I went from Gen 1 Quad Large (131 kwh) R1S to the Gen 1 Dual Large (131 kwh) R1T to the Tri Max (140kwh) R1S Dune. We currently have the R1T and the Dune and a friend owns our old R1S Quad.
The Dune is awesome. For my money, it is what a Rivian is supposed to be (tires notwithstanding)...
Don't hate me for saying it, but I want a fix for the two Rivian PaaK problem. Right now, the PaaK only works for one vehicle at a time and you have to go in and manually switch to open the other vehicle. Very irritating when both of your cars are Rivians and inevitably it has the wrong car...
