Would be nice if the dash adjusted to show my range based on my current usage. I don’t punch in a destination when I’m just driving around so it’s be nice to know how much further I can go. Or am I missing where this is displayed?
Guess what? it's the same way trip computers are in ICE. It's a guess-o-meter with factory data as baseline, modified by data collected from past trips. I wouldn't say it's "completely inaccurate". It's an estimate/projection based on known data. An informed guess. Ballpark accurate.

EPA certified ranges are never meant to be taken literally as iron-clad guarantees. They too are estimates based on controlled test. Tests that do not reflect real world driving conditions—which include climate, road surface, elevation, etc.—and varied driving styles of each and every person. Like the live in-vehicle range estimates, they are a general frame of reference.

Picked up my dune yesterday! Liking the interior way more than I thought I would. The color is also better in person. First ev and Rivian and it just feels really composed.

I did have questions on efficiency though. I know it’s early but had questions on what I’m seeing. Picked up in Sacramento and drove to Truckee probably avg 75. I think I got only 1.3 kW.

drove around some more today around the Truckee area mostly freeway, 70 mph, out side temp in the high 40s, all purpose, standard height, 20” all terrains. I reset the trip meter and it was doing 1.5 kW. Heater was set at 67.

Is that efficiency to be expected? What’s also confusing is that the miles left on the dash and battery percentage would make me think I have 300 mile range. Based on the efficiency on the trip meter at 1.5 kw and a capacity of 141 I only have a range of 211 miles? That seems pretty off from the 320 advertised.
Congrats on the Dune. Holy cow if you are only getting 1.5 miles / kw! FWIW, we swapped our Dune R1S tires for Michelins (same wheels) and we're averaging > 2.4 miles/kwh in spirited driving over the past 2,000+ miles.

I don’t think you’re missing anything. If you have very long commutes, I recommend using the nav. Otherwise you will get to know your truck over time and that 50% translates to x days of daily driving.
