Guess what? it's the same way trip computers are in ICE. It's a guess-o-meter with factory data as baseline, modified by data collected from past trips. I wouldn't say it's "completely inaccurate". It's an estimate/projection based on known data. An informed guess. Ballpark accurate.Would be nice if the dash adjusted to show my range based on my current usage. I don’t punch in a destination when I’m just driving around so it’s be nice to know how much further I can go. Or am I missing where this is displayed?
EPA certified ranges are never meant to be taken literally as iron-clad guarantees. They too are estimates based on controlled test. Tests that do not reflect real world driving conditions—which include climate, road surface, elevation, etc.—and varied driving styles of each and every person. Like the live in-vehicle range estimates, they are a general frame of reference.
