Wouldn’t the SOC estimate on your screen be just that and subject to things like ambient temperature? I would guess the SOC as estimated by the software could change. 70% as measured in the middle of night in a cold garage may measure at 70+ the next day in a warmer environment. There may be...
The two CR reports on reliability and satisfaction sum up my experience perfectly - minor issues but still by far the most amazing vehicle I have owned and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else (and I tell everyone that asks).
I do same - in the mountains I stay in AP. I seriously doubt conserve will help climbing or descending mountains. I have decades of experience driving in the Sierras where lower displacement ICE engines were less efficient than bigger V8s ( while it was opposite on the flat farmland in the...
Just to answer a couple of the questions above (quote function doesn’t seem to be working).
Does it fold up? no, this doesn’t “fold up” so if you will deploy the 3rd row you’ll remove the Weathertech liner. This is fine for my use case.
question about the lip on the tailgate edge: it doesn’t...
Looks identical from your pics - maybe they are made in the same place and rebranded. Thanks for posting the pic of it with the tailgate open - the Tyger version I have functions identically.
I have done one road trip, ~400 miles each way to/from Mammoth. I had zero road debris on the...
yes, if you charge to about 85% in Bishop you will still have 60% charge (my experience so far) in Mammoth and you will have plenty of safety buffer if you leave Mammoth with 25% headed back to Bishop. So you have about 35% minus the 1-2% overnight drain. Given most trips around the area are...
I stopped using EvGo and stick to RAN and EA as much as I can with EvGo as my last resort due to pricing. I don’t have connection issues with EvGo when I do use them - I have found them to be reliable. Their pricing is higher though in my experience and a lot of their stations along my routes...
Tesla has taken the exact approach immortalized in business schools across the globe by Peter Drucker and others in that they have built a cost advantage and can drive down price - while maintaining a share and profitability advantage - to erect a market barrier to later entrants in two of the...
I could use a headrest cushion/cover for my front passenger seat. Something more plush and without creases and stitching in the head-cushion interface zone. Would be nice if it was subtle. It doesn’t need to be a frigging pillow just something to soften up the headrest and eliminate the seam...
My closest service center is San Diego also. I think the SD location has a bunch of great people that want to help but one service center for a metro area of ~4M people in sunny SoCal that has a lot of EV adoption just isn’t probably enough. I also see Amazon EDVs there so we are all competing...
Got the Weathertech today. Took a couple pics. The lip along the forward and side edges is fairly tall to contain any spills but the lip along the rear edge is pretty minimal. It would contain probably some snowmelt from a few ski boots but if you think you may have an ice chest accidentally...
just so I can understand better as I haven’t taken my S camping yet, are you putting the truck into camp mode while conducting this test or is it just being parked and left to sleep like normal everyday use?
Probably a dumb question but are you sure you’re plugging the CCS connectors all the way in until they “click”? The only time I had an issue was when I couldn’t get close enough to an EvGo charger to get enough slack in the cable to plug straight in and get that click. It would fault after a...
If the purpose of taxes is to both drive behavior AND generate revenue then a mileage/use tax on EVs doesn’t make sense as it would discourage people who will actually drive a lot from purchasing EVs.
So I did use the Olancha RAN last trip up to Mammoth. The chargers are along the back wall of the gas station so you drive past the pumps and you will see the parking spots for the chargers there. Lots of space back there so they should work also if towing.
Also to OP thanks for the write up - I take trips from SoCal up to the Bay Area and Sacto from time to time so helpful to hear how the charging stops are doing.
I have noticed this also. I would feel like I couldn’t leave the vehicle unattended while charging at one of these stalls for fear of getting towed by an ambitious tow company. Also give your other point of not “doubling up” on a unit what does one do when that means using the handicap stall...
