  1. Anyone Cross-Shopping the Audi e-Tron SUV?

I also have a LE R1S on pre order. My original delivery window was July-September but given the delays we see I don't think anything will happen this year, especially here in Canada. And I'm also considering the e-tron, although the upcoming refresh, the one that should have over 300mi of...
  2. Test drive impressions from Tesla owner

What about noise level? I've seen opinions all over the place on this. Is the R1T quieter than your S?
  3. Electronic Nannies limiting Acceleration

More and more EVs are becoming fast. Lucid has motors pulling hard all the way. The iX also has a nice flat power curve up to top speed. Curious to see if this will hold true for the iX M60 that should have a 155 mph speed limit. I guess I'm getting old ?. There are actually not that many...
  4. Electronic Nannies limiting Acceleration

That would be great indeed. In my case I have a R1S LE reservation. I was hoping for it to be a kind of electrified X5M. It certainly handles and pulls hard (up to 100 mph or so based on what I read). So it's a bit disappointing that they didn't give it a higher top speed. Having said that...
  5. Drag racing experiences?

I thought the speed limit was 130mph, or at least 125. Has something changed in the spec recently?
  6. 2022 BMW iX

I went to the BMW forums to read more about this limitation. Looks like one has to turn to custom hitch installations, the same way some people put a hitch on a Model S or model 3.
  7. 2022 BMW iX

Thanks for checking. I must say I'm speechless. That you cannot put a bike rack is one thing. That you cannot even tow anything then I just don't see the point of this form factor over a car, other than sitting slightly higher. I think I'll head over to the BMW forums see what people have to...
  8. 800V charging, 400V motors, what about doing it like the hummer?

Just saw the following video on TFLEV, Maybe this is old news but they mentioned the Hummer actually "splits" its battery pack in two and connects them serially when charging, feeding off 800V charging stations (around the 3 min mark). But when powering the motors it goes back to parallel...
  9. Out of Spec: R1T Charging Curve, Cost and Analysis

Now the million dollar question I'm afraid to ask: is this a hardware limitation, or a software limitation? I certainly hope it can be fixed with OTA update.
  10. Out of Spec: Rivian R1T Highway Range Test

From your sig you have the e-tron GT. He was talking about the e-tron 55.
  11. Out of Spec: Rivian R1T Highway Range Test

With the 21s the EPA range is 314 miles (and 316 for the R1S I have ordered). So let's round it to 310 miles (~500km) in that 70mph test. That's a very impressive number to me and beyond what I was expecting.
  12. Out of Spec: Rivian R1T Highway Range Test

I've seen a 0.30 drag coefficient mentioned in another thread on this forum. Not sure if this is official. Still makes the R1T result very impressive.
  13. 2022 BMW iX

The iX M60 is actually very high on my list, at the level of the Rivian. One big concern about the iX, and maybe you can confirm from your test, is that you don't have a hitch on which you can install a bike rack. At least the European models I saw (in Bjorn's video) only had this ball that...
  14. My R1T Charging Session Data - From 25% SOC to 85%

From what I have seen so far, 150kw chargers are 400V based. But 200kw and 350kw chargers appear to support 800V (and in fact up to 1000V most of the time). W/R to the conversion process, there was an article recently on Insideevs I believe showing the charge curve of a Lucid on a 350kw...
  15. My R1T Charging Session Data - From 25% SOC to 85%

A 800V architecture makes a huge difference. There is an excellent youtube video by Peter Rawlinson (of Lucid) on their battery pack with lots of technical info. Half the current means a quarter of the dissipated energy. It's tempting to wait for the Rivians with the 800V battery and new...
  16. Ask us Rivian R1T owners ANYTHING [AMA]!

As a Tesla owner who went too many times back to the SC after delivery (for a creak here, a rattle there, etc) how's the overall fit and finish? Any rattles? Or something else not working requiring a visit back to the service center? Thanks again for all your answers. Very helpful!
  17. What Would You Like To See From Our Rivian Test? - Out of Spec

If you regen at 50kw for 6 mins you get back roughly 5kwh (leaving aside the losses in AC-DC conversion). That's a significant amount of energy. On my old S75D that would be about 7.5%. And yes I've experienced that in a mountainous area nearby, recovering over 20 miles of range when going...
  18. What Would You Like To See From Our Rivian Test? - Out of Spec

Road noise compared to model S and X, since quite a few people, including me, currently have a Tesla. And what about a "regen" test to see how much energy is recovered when going down a mountain. TFL had gotten very little energy back in their IKE Gauntlet test on the way down. And I know...
  19. Now that deliveries have started, can we get a 70mph range test?

Preferably in Conserve mode on cruise control. Just to get a good idea of the highway range. No need to empty the battery, just a 100 miles round trip would be good enough. Thanks.
  20. Oil Supply & Price Trends

In Canada, in Vancouver for example, gas just went above $2 per liter, meaning $7.56 per gallon (in Canadian dollars). I still remember in Feb 2013, when I had gotten my Volt, the pleasure I was having driving in front of gas stations and thinking, I can wait another week to put gas.
