  1. R1s Max Pack timing

Based on everything we know it seems like middle of 2023 is the best, best case scenario for a max pack vehicle. There is certainly the possibility it ends up getting shelved as well.
  2. March - April 2022 Delivery Club/Hype Thread

I was part of this group but swapped to an R1S. Sad. @atR1S if only. Test drives are impossible unless you get an invite and they won't even listen to requests for test drives.
  3. Article: Tesla's Cybertruck May Not Actually Happen

You do realize RJ goes to bed at night dreaming that Rivian will be 75% of what Tesla already is, right? :CWL: I don't like Tesla but Rivian doesn't exist if Tesla hadn't paved the way.
  4. Article: Tesla's Cybertruck May Not Actually Happen

With how big the electric truck market is shaping up to be, I'd be shocked if there isn't a Tesla truck sooner rather than later. With that said, I think the "Cybertruck" that gets sold will look a lot different than the goofy concept vehicle we've seen.
  5. No Scalping Lightnings

I'm a big fan of this. Flipping special order or waitlist cars is a dumb thing to do.
  6. Why I’m content waiting for delivery…

Also funny, the reason we "haven't seen stories like this" for Rivian is because they've iron clad NDA'd everyone with one of their cars. :CWL:
  7. Why I’m content waiting for delivery…

Unfortunately we're 100% going to see these same stories about Rivians. Every first production EV has lemons and Rivian won't be any different.
  8. Rivian’s Stock Slide Deepens as Operating Chief Steps Down

This is certainly true and very possible. The timing seems odd to me, though, but who knows. Even if planned it always makes me nervous seeing the "responsibilities absorbed by the team" line. I have a feeling the team over at Rivian is working pretty darn hard as is. It's not really that big...
  9. Rivian’s Stock Slide Deepens as Operating Chief Steps Down

It's pretty funny. You have one side that says "the sky is falling" and then the other side that says "not only is the sky not falling, but it's a beautiful, sunny blue!" when the reality is it's probably kind of cloudy and drizzling. Having multiple members of your leadership team leave at a...
  10. Off Road Package for R1T LE ?

That's absolute nonsense and every data point on car sales says so. Very few options on cars hold ANY residual value and those that do only retain a 20-40% residual on average. Specifically this tends to be upgraded wheels and sound systems. Go look at the data. It's a silly, absurd...
  11. $80 to Fast Charge Your Rivian!

Not only is EA charging fairly expensive, but I'll tell you right now that by the time we get in our Rivians the EA infrastructure will be staggeringly overtaxed by EVs. The price is only going to go up, EA has cornered the market on fast charging. There are usually only 1 or 2 working 350kw...
  12. Rivian in Europe when?

The R1T/R1S are both 4 inches wider than a Range Rover. That's a significant problem for the largest car buying countries in Europe, where narrow streets are a real problem. If they can't sell en masse to France/Germany/UK, they won't bother. The other dimensions are an issue as well but the...
  13. Rants and Raves after 2 months of Rivian R1T ownership [DISCLAIMER: Unauthorized feedback from non-owner]

I'm assuming all current R1T deliveries come with a nice old NDA you have to sign and/or the fact that there are very, very few actual customer deliveries.
  14. Rants and Raves after 2 months of Rivian R1T ownership [DISCLAIMER: Unauthorized feedback from non-owner]

One thing I can tell you as someone that's owned 3 first production EVs (iPace, eTron, Taycan) is to expect widely varying experiences. The battery & battery integration software can just really cause problems. My iPace was a lemon, my eTron had issues, and my Taycan has been flawless. But I...
  15. Porsche Taycan beats EPA rating in winter!

Related to this, I have real concerns over the R1T/R1S in winter. I don't know why there isn't a heat pump and I think it could really be a problem. It's quite proven at this point that heat pumps drastically improve the function of EV batteries in cold weather, relating to both efficiency and...
  16. Porsche Taycan beats EPA rating in winter!

I just like that if Porsche tells you a 0-60 time and range for their car, that's the MINIMUM. Every single car they sell outperforms their claims, and it's hard not to applaud that. Tesla is one of the worst at exaggerating and it's hard not to argue that Rivian is following along.. we already...
  17. Porsche Taycan beats EPA rating in winter!

Huh? Most real world tests have the Taycan on pace with the best Model S in terms of efficiency. It's one of the most efficient EVs on the market, ESPECIALLY at highway speeds due to the transmission & in winter due to the heat pump. We already know the R1T/R1S will be massively less efficient...
  18. Anyone changed their configuration?

Not yet. I was told I'd get an email at some point but the "delivery windows" aren't worth much anyway so I'm not sweating it. But they confirmed I was in the same place in line after switching and all looked good for my preorder.
  19. Anyone else completely disappointed that MaxPack battery not available until 2023?

I agree with the earlier sentiment that the "Maxpack" may never see the light of day. Batteries that big are problematic for a number of reasons, the 135 battery is already really pushing the limits. If someone is steadfast that they need a max pack battery or don't want a Rivian, I'd start...
