  1. Help me understand a home charging setup

My goal isn’t to share the circuit with two EVs, but an EV charger and an air compressor with zero expectation I’ll need both at the same time.
  2. Help me understand a home charging setup

Sweet! Thanks. "Interlock" was the magic word I needed to find the thing.
  3. Off-Road Upgrade or Not?

Do we think there will be any way to tow charge a Rivian without the off-road package? Tow charging is a cool feature that shouldn't necessarily be tied to off-road abilities.
  4. Help me understand a home charging setup

I understand what that doodad is doing, I just want to know how to buy one myself. What is it called? Where do they sell it? How can I buy one?
  5. Help me understand a home charging setup

Someone help me figure out what that rocker thing is in the middle here. This is a photo of my neighbors set up. The breaker on the left goes to his hardwired Tesla wall charger. The breaker on the right goes to a NEMA 14-50 outlet. This is the setup I want so I can have a large plug and a...
  6. Truckload of R1T spotted heading to Colorado

Those things should be wrapped in plastic! My guess is that they're for the test drive events
  7. ? R1T Red Alert: First Retail "Sellable R1T" - First Look Video!

That car is going straight to storage. It'll sit there until some charity auction or museum wants it years down the road.
  8. Newest language on the EV incentive

What the problem here is that Rivian designed and marketed vehicles that were eligible for the rebate. They don’t get a chance to go back and design a model that fits the new rebate scheme. I don’t have a problem with the change, except it would be more fair to roll it in after manufacturers...
  9. Max vs. Large battery Physical Location?

I guess they could depending on their cell voltages and pack configurations. And if they could do it with the Large pack, why not give the functionality from the get-go? Maybe they're just going to baby the battery management system until they get it all figured out. Not sure. Wish I knew.
  10. Max vs. Large battery Physical Location?

There was some chatter and a patent where two batteries operated at 450V in parallel when driving and then in series at 900V to charge. I'm hoping that's a difference between large and max packs. I would love to get near that 350kW charge rates that Porsche has.
  11. After Labor Day, time to get to work...produce and deliver!

The question shouldn’t be when they build their first vehicle, it should be when they build the thousandth vehicle. What’s our predictions on that? I’ll start: R1T LE: March 2022 R1S LE: July 2022 R1T Max Pack: Sept 2022
  12. California Roll Call!

Sept 2019 Reservation. Santa Clara (SF Bay Area) Haven't ordered anything but my config is: R1T Max Pack Adventure Red Canyon, Ocean Coast, 20" AT @gsqrd, are you a Launch Edition holder? I'd love to try to work out a deal with you or anyone like you to trade wheels. I'm annoyed that I wasn't...
  13. Moving to 21" wheels on R1T LE.

I'm not getting an LE. Order the 20s and I'll trade 21s with you plus $900. In fact, we should never let a LE holder get the 20s. Us non-LE reservationists would love to work out a deal!
  14. Max vs. Large battery Physical Location?

Has anyone gotten an indication that the max pack is a different voltage? Or maybe does their patented 450V/900V parallel/series trick when charging?
  15. Help me understand a home charging setup

Don’t buy a Tesla branded charger, it’ll limit you. Rivian’s will be a generic charger with their logo. It’s actually a fair price at $500 so I’m getting that. Always buy the charger with the longest cable. Wired chargers are on 60 amp services and charge 20% faster. Your best solution is to...
  16. Information or reasoned speculation on range with AT 20's and 'Conserve' mode - please avoid drift

My primary reason for getting the 20s is because the 21s are a custom tire size. The secondary reason is because more sidewall reduces curb rash. The tertiary reason is all season traction. That said, all 20” tires available today are 10-ply LT grade. This is a heavier tire and overkill for...
  17. s00n is here ... it's SEPTEMBER!

So not all cars need to post their crash test results? That doesn't seem very consumer friendly. I hope Rivian decides to do so.
  18. s00n is here ... it's SEPTEMBER!

We still need to get the crash test rating and people also forget to notice but on the configuration all the prices are still “estimated”. We don’t actually know what the truck costs yet!
  19. ? Official EPA Range and MPGe Numbers for R1T & R1S

I'm more inclined to leave my racks on with the Rivian than with my ICE vehicle. Mileage is so cheap with electricity and I have the ability to recharge every night. The only time I might take the racks off the Rivian is if I plan on testing the limits of its range.
  20. ? Official EPA Range and MPGe Numbers for R1T & R1S

Here's my math to convince me that I should wait for the max pack, especially considering I want 20" wheels: (I only consider highway range in my calcs because I will never go that long a distance in city driving in a day where I won't be able to charge at night 293*.85*400/300*.85*.85*.9= 216...
