Generally, the first installations the public sees are employee vehicles, which can pop up 1 week after an announcement. They usually take an additional week to validate there aren't any issues.
If all is well, rollouts happen in waves across an additional week.
So best case, 2 weeks. Worst...
I could be spreading misinformation, so take this with a grain of salt. I believe I heard that Rivian includes vampire drain in their efficiency numbers (total miles driven versus total energy consumed). Whereas Electrafi just looks at the start/end SOC of each individual drive.
I personally already keep one of those detailing microfiber rags on the floor of my center console, precisely to clean off the cameras every once in a while.
Hmm, I just ordered the manual tonneau because I was tired of waiting for the powered tonneau. It's arriving tomorrow, but I wonder if I should return it now. Only a few hundred more to upgrade to the powered option if it's offered for ~$2500.
Should probably rename this thread to "2024.19.04 update begins rollout today! + Software update review video"
Otherwise we'll be seeing questions over the next week of "why don't I have it yet? ?
(Operative words: IANAL) Antitrust may not be the right type, but my concern is that Rivian is a provider, AND the reviewer in this case.
If their score was an open standard, no harm no foul. But since it's closed source that seems like leaving the door open for an argument of foul play...
Some interesting tidbits I noticed from the drive screen;
Regen seems to be off
Wonder if they put in a bare-bones / low-power computer in there?
The wheel torque visual seems to be heavily delayed (like, 1 update per second).
Compass isn't plugged in (Stuck at 0° North)
Map isn't live
Tires...
IANAL, but it feels like an antitrust lawsuit waiting to happen; the fact that Rivian (a provider of charging stations) is providing a scoring system in their navigation software for their competitors (and themselves). Especially since this has now spread beyond the Rivian ecosystem and into...
The problem is the promise of future proofing so long as the hardware supports it, and that the hardware updated so drastically so soon in such a way that it forces disparity. The cadence Rivian demonstrated here (with a minimization of public comment on details before it's reveal) is...
What's interesting here is the implication that there's going to be a third R1 vehicle (taking the profile at face value, but that's probably not a good idea since it's identical to the bottom "Affordable Mass Market" one).
Maybe they'll load a max-pack battery into the EDV, and market it as an...
According to RJ on the investor's call, it sounds like the joint venture is PURELY focused on the multi-zonal ECU architecture, and the software that goes with it. But it does NOT include autonomy.
So, sounds like it's just the "nervous system" of the vehicle that VW is going to use, and any...
There's two parts to this;
Rivian said every vehicle with the same/similar hardware will receive the same updates, and that minor differences should not affect the global Rivian user experience. For example, Rivian has already implemented several rolling changes within Gen1 over the last 2...
You know I think I finally figured out why I'm personally (arguably reasonably) irked about this whole Gen2 thing. For what it is (a new-featured full hardware refresh), it happened MUCH sooner than than anyone reasonably expected. I was on a waitlist for 2 years, and after BEGGING my guide to...
Yeah, Gen2 is compatible with (but not currently capable of):
Front/Rear collision avoidance
Evasive maneuver assist
Accelerating to prevent cut-ins
I've not owned a Tesla, only heard stories of their accident avoidance. If these are features offered on the base Autopilot (even in a limited...
The forward facing camera AND the forward facing sensors are being used for driver assistance.
The 360° camera appears to only be used for the camera app in the vehicle, and gear guard.
The 360° sensors are only being used for parking proximity, blind spot monitoring, and presumably also gear...
