Just want to throw a grain of salt on all of this. Nothing demonstrated in this video is out of line with MobileEye's functionality. So don't be so eager to drink the Kool-Aid quite yet...
Just a fun little video. This is a YouTuber who has interest in in 2 things:
Electric Vehicles
Eclectic Vehicles
I highly recommend his channel if you find this video even remotely fun.
Ideally this would've been a choice of 4 options;
Yes - Quad
Yes - Dual
No - Quad
No - Dual
That way we would've seen a more representative failure rate.
As of me writing this comment, the poll has a ratio of 1.33 : 1.00 (Quad : Dual)
Per Electrafi, config of registered users is a ratio of...
Hmm, yeah I guess that's true. Unfortunately though, it's been a misnomer from the start. It's a brand name that people have latched onto as the Rivian equivalent to Autopilot, and most people don't hear "Driver+" and think of the rear cross traffic warning.
I have so many questions ?
Is it fair to say that in its current state this enables Driver-plus-like functionality on unmapped roads (so, stop/go/LKA), plus semi-auto lane changes for Gen1?
Are you capable of adjusting the speed & distance using the wheels on the steering wheel?
Any speed-sign...
When I'm away from home, it does, but I still regularly use the FOB to open/close the frunk, or roll up the windows if someone forgot to, or roll down the windows during the summer as I begin to approach the truck.
When I'm at home, I have PAAK disabled because my driveway's about 30 feet from...
Easier/faster to pull out my keys and press a button within 1 second, as opposed to fiddling with unlocking my phone and opening my app to press a digital button over 10 seconds, then waiting 1-15 seconds for the cell service to kick in.
I use the additional functions pretty regularly (frunk...
A couple, actually. Infotainment resets at least. I've only needed to do one every 6 months or so, but since this most recent update I've done 3, and it hard crashed and reset itself once.
Hey everyone, I've noticed some increased instability after updating to 2024.43.1 and I just wanted to check if others have experienced an increase in instability as well.
I've got a 2023 Gen1 R1T.
Things I've noticed:
Infotainment hard crash while driving (screens go black, only...
To me, the complaints are more of a symptom of an underfunded software team / lack of man-hours. Should Apple Music be better? Yes. Should casting have been released yesterday? Also yes. Does Rivian have the capital to splurge on software right now? Unfortunately not, it seems.
It makes financial sense that they redesigned it to focus on fit & finish with the R1S (and "non-rivian" vehicles), but I'll always be salty that they completely abandoned the gear tunnel version.
Just to dispel one unsaid concern of your post:
Your charger will only pull energy to charge your car, plus a tiny amount of energy to keep the LEDs and WIFI running on it. For reference, a Raspberry Pi with WiFi runs at around 2 watts, so that's like 10-15 kWh per year.
The other thing that...
'23 Dual Large 21", and I'm using ElectraFi. It tells me that for the lifetime of ownership (9 months, 12k miles), I average 2.17 m/kWh. The infotainment screen says lower, but that's because it includes vampire drain and preconditioning.
HOWEVER, that 2.17 is with a few things against me:
I...
Argh! I'm past the 9 month window at this point (submitted Oct 9, 2023), and still no update on my amended return. It's confirmed received on their website, but just says it hasn't been processed.
Called the IRS 6 weeks ago, and they said "call back in 30 days." Just got off the phone with them...
Proactive behavior:
If the camera detects an advisory reduced-speed limit sign, or
If the road has been pre-mapped with Driver+, and some software engineer marked that particular curve as requiring a slowdown
Retroactive behavior:
If neither of the pro-active scenarios are true, and the...
Any frustration I have about this update stems from the fact that it's delaying Gen1 features. That being said, I'm not all that frustrated because I understand that Gen2 needs a bit of "catch up" to make it's hardware work as intended. So I'm not concerned this is a sign of Gen1 abandonment...
