Thanks for posting (I think). I made it through the first 3 minutes, but then I reminded myself that life is too short to be wasting time. It was a good reminder.
I did not contact them. I was projected delivery of July - Sept 2023 before I changed my interior color to Forest Edge. I got my reserved configuration other than my purchase has the Black 20" wheels and no PPF.
I got access about a week ago to the R1S Shop and there has been nothing in the shop for Colorado. Just checked in (thinking I was wasting time) and there are a bunch out there. I may have bought one!
Interesting. I thought it was the chrome that I didn't care for on the S. And that is partially true, but I realize now it is the color on the pillar that I really don't like. For this reason, I have been gravitating towards the darker paint colors. I'm still waiting on my Forest Green.
Generally, I think it is better to file an extension and claim the credit on your original return. The IRS can be quite slow in process amended returns - especially when they have to write a check. If you do file an extension, you have to decide whether you want to make an extension payment...
Have you worked through the issue as to whether you will try and claim the Colorado EV credit in 2022, also? I think the CO rules are written without any conformity to what the IRS says and that you cannot claim the credit until the year you take delivery (that's off my memory though so...
If I were you I'd extend and claim the credit on the extended tax return. You will most likely to get your credit quicker. The IRS can be pretty slow processing refund claims.
You're not crazy. You are just trying to read IRS guidance as if it were common English. There is still a route to getting a credit under the old rules with a BPA for 2023 deliveries, but I wouldn't take it to the bank.
Same, sort of. I switched from Max R1T to R1S in October. Prior to the switch, I had R1T shop access. After the switch, I had R1S shop access (the banner with no vehicles). That went away. I assumed it had something to do with person(s) who got backdoor, early access to R1Ss.
You may want to go back and check the previous discussion thread on this forum about the BPA and the IRS' position that 5% is considered a binding purchase agreement. The guidance also indicates that what constitutes a BPA is determined based on state law...
I'm a CPA (how good of a CPA is debatable), but the idea that signing a BPA and taking delivery of the vehicle in a later tax year allows me to amend my 2022 to claim the credit in 2022 does not sound correct - notwithstanding the fact that the bill was written this way.
I believe the BPA will...
I'm curious if anyone knows why the rated tow capacity of the R1T (11,000 pounds) is so much more than the R1S (7,000 pounds). It's old news I know and both are more than plenty for my planned use, but I still wonder. Does wheelbase effect maximum tow capacity?
The only thing I find interesting in the email is Tony's heavy emphasis on how changing your configuration will delay your delivery. If you want to achieve the unspecified delivery date, you better quit changing your configuration. I'm guessing that only really applies for those who see a...
Thanks for sharing (with pictures). That looks like a well designed product. Though I personally doubt that set-up will cause any long-term issues as long as the mounting rail is strong and the bolts are the right length, please update if you run into any issues.
I’m still waiting on my truck...
