Everyone was attracted to Rivian for a different reason so I don't feel the need to convince anyone that my view is the right one.
That said, I'm disappointed. My reservation for a max pack was made in October 2020 and I don't plan on changing it. I want to tow a camper in the Rockies. I...
Great info and entertainment. The point about losing access to the bed is key for me. Even if it is only a 4.5 foot bed. I have a crew cab with a 6 foot bed so I'm already losing 1.5 feet - even though my 2001 Tacoma is quite a bit smaller in overall length than the R1T.
I went down the...
That is the first time I've watched one of his reviews. It wore me out! ?
A very methodical walkthrough of the truck. Worth the time. I'm a bit disappointed that there does not appear to be a good camera for hooking up a trailer. First I've heard this mentioned.
I won't begin to believe that I'm smart enough to price an IPO, but given all the skepticism about the Rivian IPO, I think this is a thoughtful, and positive, analysis of Rivian's iPO. Apologies if someone has already posted this...
I'm not too hung up with the move to electric with cars / trucks (the 0-60 is amazing), but the end of ICE motorcycles such as the V-twin Ducatis, V-4 Aprilias, or an in-line four cross-fire Yamaha with a good pipe is a bit sad for me. And, replacing the whole clutch, brake, throttle routine...
On the one hand, I'm not an IPO investor. On the other hand, any time Motley Fool tells me to go right, I would go left. I'm probably in for play money.
Yes. The rules apply equally to the R1S.
There are lots of nuances to the rules, but one which I don't think was mentioned above is that you can get a partial deduction if the business use is less that 100%, but if the business use is below 50%, Section 179 deductions are not permitted. And...
There are references to "Trailer Sway Control" (like it is a defined term) on page 144 and 145. But, I don't see anywhere where they describe what the vehicle actually does to control trailer sway (other than automatically disengaging Adaptive Cruise Control).
Did I miss a description of what...
I'm not sure how much I'd pay for it, but the ability to load gpx tracks would be nice. Even if you didn't get the SoC info (which I don't find surprising). It sounded like the Rivian engineers loaded the track as a one-off favor for the MotorTrend crew.
Thanks to everyone for this thread. I have been wondering what the state of the art is. I wax with Meguiars every six months, don't drive much, and park in the garage and, as has been noted, the wax is good for maybe two or three months.
Curb versus GVWR is easily confused. I have been thinking about weight for the purposes of state tax credits. Vehicle weight can also affect the available state credit in Colorado. A quick search and I ran across a picture of a Rivian (in Colorado?).

At 2:15 on the video, it appears that the entire rear tailgate light brightens when you hit the brakes. I thought that I saw somewhere that someone thought just the corner pieces were going to light-up when you tap the brakes based on a test truck sighting. I'm glad that's not the case.
