If it launches at $65k itās DOA. Very few of āthe massesā will be willing to pay $65k for an R2 when they can get a loaded Model Y Performance that does 0-60 in 3.3 seconds for $58k.
Needs to launch with AWD, 300+ miles of range, at $55-60k max.
They can go crazy with the Tri and price that...
Well, you also got a lot more power. The sport mode coming for free isnāt going to unlock any power, just more aggressive throttle mapping and AWD-lock im sure.
Itās out in Europe, initial demand exceeded expectations and basically already sold out for the model year. They had to add more shifts at the assembly plant to increase output.
I get that the market for EVs in North America is very different than Europe right nowā¦so youāre still correct in...
I think thatās a very reasonable expectationā¦but weāll see. Model Y LR AWD is under $50k, so Rivian needs to offer a decently equipped LR AWD R2 for $55k or less. $60k is MY Performance territory, and its also 400+ mile range iX3 and EX60 territoryā¦..so I suspect what youāre wanting will come in...
As an R1 owner that wants a smaller R1, iām hoping for awesome premium specs at price points that arenāt afraid to nip at R1 territory.
As a Rivian superfan and investor that wants as many people as possible to get access to the brand, Iām also hoping for truly impressive lower spec variants...
I think a $55k AWD long range variant will be released by late summer/early fall without question. That goes right for the heart of the Model Y and is the most important spec they will launch.
$55k for AWD and 300+ mile Range will be competitive with Tesla, and undercut the more technically...
Pretty sure theyāre going to be very close to Model Y in price and range. Thatās been the plan all along. The Tri Motor will be more expensive, but the bread and butter long Range Dual Motor will be competitive with Model Y, has to be.
Funny. I was never that interested in the R1 because itās bigger than my preference. I was actually pretty close to buying a Lucid. The R2 is what initially interested me in Rivian. I went and drove an R1 just to see what the brand was about, and once I did it was overā¦ordered one a week or two...
I really canāt understand why this is so problematic to some and not for others. My Phone as Key has worked perfectly 100% of the time since day 1. Literally, I canāt remember a single time Iāve ever had to take my phone out, or even had to wait. Itās been instantaneous and perfect. iPhone 16...
There's nothing really like it in the market, so I think it's going to be immensely popular. In a sea of rounded, crossover/wagon looking EVs at this price point, surely there are people clamoring for something fresh.
Well, the R1S Tri-motor is $30k more than the Dual-standard R1S, and thatās only 1 additional motor. Youāre getting a larger battery, more premium interior, and a MASSIVE power bump.
The R2 needs to be more price conscious. I suspect the pricing is going to be neck and neck with the Model Y...
As an update, I still find the R2 very compelling. I dont like the Volvo...its not cool (JUST my opinion and I realize not everyone cares about having a cool or athletic looking car). The iX3 is awesome and will win on range, but If the sub 3 second R2 Tri-motor can be had for $70k, which i...
Maybe he had a fire-related trauma in his past, who knows.
There are many things in my house that are more likely to cause a fire than an EV, so not a rational concern for me.
You must be a boomer :giggle:
I like some youtube influencer content. As an automotive fanatic, it's rarely groundbreaking news for me, but I find videos like this fun to watch and it keeps me hyped. Same with travel content, fitness content, etc. Some are hacks, many are just passionate people...
