  1. Auto Union Boss Wants 46% Raise, 32-Hour Work Week in ‘War’ Against Detroit Carmakers

I rather think "Fully Automated Luxury Communism" would be much better.
  2. Auto Union Boss Wants 46% Raise, 32-Hour Work Week in ‘War’ Against Detroit Carmakers

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/aug/29/biden-is-turning-away-from-free-trade-and-thats-a-great-thing?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other But the trade deals also have caused millions of US jobs to be lost, and the wages of millions of Americans to stagnate or decline. Between 2000 and...
  3. Auto Union Boss Wants 46% Raise, 32-Hour Work Week in ‘War’ Against Detroit Carmakers

Teachers are eagerly waiting for someone to throw money at education. Until then the best are leaving for better pay.
  4. Auto Union Boss Wants 46% Raise, 32-Hour Work Week in ‘War’ Against Detroit Carmakers

Teachers have always had low pay. What do you expect? Corporations make the argument that you have to pay executives well to get the best. Doesn't that work for teachers?
  5. Auto Union Boss Wants 46% Raise, 32-Hour Work Week in ‘War’ Against Detroit Carmakers

Maybe they'll get some better teachers if they pay them better.
  6. Emergency generator

I understand but you still have to consider that you will be dragging around a heavy generator and fuel "just for emergencies" when you could have the advantage of a continuous supply of electricity to enhance your backcountry experience with induction cooking, etc. I just randomly searched...
  7. Emergency generator

Rather than a fossil generator, you might consider a solar generator. Lots of these with different capacities available at reasonable prices. For your hypothetical "20 miles of extra range to get out of the boonies", you would need 10 kWh electricity. Larger solar generators have batteries this...
  8. Spotted: Cybertruck vs. Rivian R1 size comparisons

My wife also hates the Cybertruck. I'll be buying a Rivian.
  9. Spotted: Cybertruck vs. Rivian R1 size comparisons

I've tried to like the Cybertruck since it came out but it just looks weird. I'm sure it will be successful but just not for me.
  10. MotorTrend trip charging strategy comparison

Would have been better if they had measured actual efficiency at speeds rather than theoretical. Another factor is social. I've found traveling in a EV is more relaxing due to frequent short rest stops.
  11. Bloomberg: America’s Loneliest Road Is Finally EV-Ready

Good to see more charging options. My favorite drive is 50 across Nevada which has been somewhat of a charging desert. Looks like some 50kW CCS stations now. It will be nice once these are upgraded to higher power and universal connectors.
  12. R1T rock crawls with the Jeep Rudicon (MisAdventure Labs)

Thanks for this information. I like Matt's Off-road Recovery channel. Get to see all the people who have made bad decisions about their car capabilities.
  13. R1T rock crawls with the Jeep Rudicon (MisAdventure Labs)

Wasn't worth my time to watch the video. I don't understand macho rock crawling.
  14. R1T rock crawls with the Jeep Rudicon (MisAdventure Labs)

It's also a trail in California. Hence the confusion. (BTW, it's Rubicon, not Rubicon for both the jeep and the trail)
  15. Rivian Mag Phone Charger Disassembled

    It's electromagnetic inductive charging.
  16. Texas Will Force Taxpayer-Funded EV Chargers to Use Tesla's Plug

You are assuming that the Tesla NACS docs are incomplete and that there will be major changes. Tesla has been using this standard for 10+ years including compatibility with J1772 and CCS so I doubt that there will be any changes to the standard. Even if there were some changes, they will be...
