I don't get clunks but my suspension definitely creaks a bit as it travels recently. Only like 1300 miles on the truck, so it's not a wear and tear thing.
I won't opine too much, and maybe it's been said, but here's a counterpoint to the locking-diff superiority convo.
I do think a locking diff provides some baseline benefits, but in 5 years we won't miss it in the EV world.
I've got a good little bit of experience in the startup and tech space, and this isn't really weird through that lens. You need different skillsets for different phases of growth, and existing folks don't always grow into those redefined roles, or even want them.
It would be interesting to see...
I'd love to see a fores green with a matte wrap in person before pulling the trigger on something - not sure how feasible it is but HMU if there's going to be an opportunity to check one out in the future.
Edit: PS thanks for putting pricing up front and clear, makes things easier.
As others have said, people keep buying em. But toyota is 100% okay with that. Zero investment required in R&D, no new anything, and that thing has to just be a money PRINTER for them. They didn't even go through an ugly phase - the vehicle's just been good looking forever. Whoever did the...
Update: It was great to see a lot of folks there. Weirdly large turnout, had to have been close to 30 R1s. I didn't end up having any of the gyros but they smelled fantastic.
All in all, a fun splashy little ride.
I don't mind paying out of pocket for things that themselves have ongoing costs: cloud services cost money to run and maintain, mobile apps cost money to develop and run, LTE connections obviously cost something. But if you're going to gate dumb shit like lights behind artificial paywalls that's...
I see one (R1S) every time I'm in Greenwood. Couple of R1Ts in Eastlake, and I feel like I consistently see a T every time I'm unfortunate enough to be going through the Mercer/SLU cluster. Definitely getting more common if you're in Seattle.
No, 70+ is already too much for a toy, no matter how fun. I want to retire at some point, and buying lots of expensive toys isn't conducive to that goal :|
Rivian nav is actually trash, routed me across a closed highway (with a [-] symbol on it even??) earlier today, costing me 20 precious minutes of my Very Important Life as I had to turn around and drive through the shitscape that is bellevue, wa to get back home.
It sucks at traffic guessing...
Depends on the windshield, seating, any tech integrations. Basic windshield can be done in an hour, more complex seatings take longer. If you have certain types of integrated defrosters, cameras, even wipers or fluid sprayers, it can take longer I think. Days seems... too much, though. Idk.
It actually seems ridiculous that they didn't retrofit something there after removing the powered cover, even just a drop-in plastic replacement piece that gives a little more bed space.
Maybe it speaks to their commitment to a net-new tonneau cover built in house and delivered in a timely...
