My vote is for your phone sliding around on the charger. I had it happen on the first drive when I picked up the truck and finally had to ask the Rivian guide with me what was making the sound.
R1Tmcg’s response should solve the issue. When I first received my R1T, I had similar issues with the app; couldn’t schedule or limit charging through the app and couldn’t save settings. Soft reset of the truck itself corrected the issue. App has been working well since.
Reading the posts on the thread you provided, there’s a very broad range of experiences with DT. From not having the pucks to the owners needing to train the techs, or tech completely ignoring the process for the R1T. Granted some have had great experiences too. I’m interested in this topic...
There is nothing official so everything you read here will be speculation. IMO I would go ahead with your order and look to trade or sell in 2025/26 when Rivian will supposedly be manufacturing vehicles with the NACS port and upgrade at that point.
Recommend completing a soft reset of the vehicle. I’ve had to do this a couple of times with my vehicle. If that doesn’t work, then you may want to contact Rivian service.
I agree that it’s rough. I live on the northern border of NC and it would be far more convenient to go the VA Beach for service. Hopefully I’m wrong and Rivian surprises us both.
Based on the job description and Rivian’s own map of planned SC locations, which does not include plans for VA Beach, I’m thinking they may just be recruiting from areas around Richmond’s SC to work there. Best case, as you stated, mobile service techs?
We have a 2 car garage and we can fit the R1T and the Cadillac SRX, which is a little tight, but no problems. I do need to walk around the back of the truck to get to the door to the house before closing the garage door.
My R1T does the same (iPhone 13 ProMax), but inconsistently, sometimes causing me to stand awkwardly by the truck for a few seconds until it unlocks. I’ve learned to approach my truck a little more slowly, which allows me more time to appreciate the view of the R1T in a sea of cars with less...
As others have said, I would recommend having your AC checked. However, to your main question of a recommended sun shade; there are several topics already covering this. Here’s a link to one I found with a quick title search- Sunshade Options
PlugShare will consolidate individual charger reviews into a single charging site review. This results in individual reviews being moved. This has been mentioned by Branden Flasch on X (Twitter) and mentioned by Out of Spec.
I feel that it isn’t the correct method for PS to use, but it is their...
