Interesting. I went back to look at the cost to make sure I didn’t make an error. To simplify the numbers from my original post: title&registration $274 + vehicle property $584. Granted this was initial registration cost, so I’m not sure if it increases when renewing registration.

NC charges $140 in addition to regular registration + cost as a weighted vehicle (over 6k lbs). In addition there is an annual property tax on the valuation of the vehicle which is about $580 on a $94k R1T. Annual total comes out to roughly $850/yr. ***Update*** NC has raised their EV...

NC currently charges $140, which I am willing to pay. I agree that $400 is way too steep.
