Drove from San Diego to Santa Fe in my R1S which took me through Phoenix at 3pm.
1) A/C on Max Recirculate, lowest temp
2) Seat Cooling on high
3) Wearing t-shirt, shorts, flippy floppies
4) Ice water in Yeti

The drive was miserable. Heat from glass roof overpowered everything and I was sweating.

lesson learned: It is not worth driving in heat and sunshine like that without some sort of insulated sunshade for the glass roof. Will be doing night driving near term for long road trips, if possible. Trip home at night was amazing. Less traffic and lights are awesome.

if anyone knows of quality sunshades, please let me know!

Sounds like your ac isn’t working properly. Don’t know how hot it was for you but for us in the upper 90s we were plenty cool

Gotta agree with WSea...something seems wrong with your vehicle's AC. I was in Moab when it was pretty much 100F every day I was there. I did have to lower the set temp to 65-68F to be comfortable, but my R1T was comfortable and I was happy to be able to use Pet Mode to keep the truck cool while we were doing short hikes to various sights, etc. That said, I did tint the front windows with ceramic to limit the IR (heat) from entering the cabin and it definitely helped. The factory tint on the rear windows and roof was enough to keep most of the IR out from there, though the roof glass itself does get quite warm it's only through conduction that the closest air to it gets warm.

On a drive a few weeks ago the windshield vent was accidentally on, the entire truck was sweating. I was sitting in the back and just thought that’s how it was. Once that was turned off the truck cooled down immediately, and I have never had another issue with it. Make sure that vent is not on.

As others have said... get your AC checked. I live in Phoenix. I originally had issues on the hot days but they are now resolved... in fact our R1S is now shockingly good at keeping us cold on 115 degree days.

I live in Phoenix and drive my R1T all the time in the Phoenix heat, with no issues. It does take 5-10 minutes to cool it, if it has been parked in the sun.

I would say your AC is not working properly.

As others have said, I think your AC isn’t working properly. I was warm in Death Valley in the peak of summer, but not uncomfortably hot like you suggested. I have all my glass tinted though, except the roof.

This. I've run into this a few times with mine as well.

I agree, I’ve had my R1S in the Coachella Vally in upper 11x degrees and have not had an issue. May want to have your checked out. There were some people that reported their systems were over charged and once corrected saw a big difference.

I too live in the Phoenix metro and have had no A/C issues I run it at 72 or 74 sometimes it’s too cold. I will use the ventilated seats on 2 Evan when we were 114 or 116. Recommend getting your A/C checked.

I literally ordered a roof shade less than 24 hours after taking delivery, and I'm not even in a truly hot place. I can't imagine doing Arizona without one. (Having lived in the "temperate" parts of Arizona before.)

Time for ceramic and infrared tint everywhere. And your hvac system to be addressed by your RSC

My r1s is at the service center right now for "inconsistent AC" Hot day is not blowing enough cold air. Cold day is blowing way too much cold air. What did they do to yours? check the refrigerant level?
I"m in Texas btw and have all my windows including the roof tinted.
