On Instagram stories, the 8 modes are intro'd with a slide that says: "We are launching with eight drive modes for the R1T..."
Maybe its semantics but the word "launch" really gives me a bad impression - didn't Rivian launch in 4+ months ago when it "sold" R1Ts in September?
I'm honestly surprised it has taken this long for a plaintiffs' law firm like this to start looking around. This type of firm looks around after almost any IPO.
For a company that debuted vehicles in Nov. 2018, the fact the R1S "still has some pre-production work to complete on the SUV" is really disappointing. For me, the fact an equally appealing (subjective) SUV hasn't come out from a competitor is the only basis for me to keep my reservation.
I've...
A few additional information voids that are top of mind (obviously there is a ton of other missing information):
1. No word on R1S interior walk-through and details like R1T had before launch.
2. No work on Max Pack R1S
3. Are Guides still a thing? They promised contact by Thanksgiving, then...
I would not be surprised if Rivian does not sell anymore R1S until January - maybe late January. The effort to get 2 sales out before the earnings calls is quite obviously about being able to state they delivered and not an indication they are actually ready to sell the R1S.
The complete lack of information on the R1S really is frustrating. Release an interior video walk-through. Do something to acknowledge 45%+ of your customers.
I loved the split hatch on my Range Rover.
The fact the bottom half is not powered is disappointing. I know there are limits but it makes it cheap compared to some other SUVs in the same class.
Two big concerns as the holder of a July - Sept slot.
1. That’s another 8-10 months for Rivian to hold prices. I know the price is not guaranteed but I’ll be angry over any change due to Rivian’s failure to project delivery over last 2 years.
2. Will we be receiving 2022 MY in Sept. 2022? That...
I placed my preorder in November 2020 right before the configurator went live. R1S, LE, El Cap, Chicago suburbs.
My window is July - September 2022. This means they do not have any expectations of doing all LE orders by end of “spring 2022” as they had been saying.
Also, makes me wonder if LE...
I attended the First Mile event in Normal on Saturday afternoon. A few additional quick hits on things I noticed:
1. Yellow is definitely more muted and mustard tone than I expected.
2. Blue is also less bright than the configurators. I have an R1S LE in El Cap on order but definitely...
It is really exciting to see the R1T and all the reviews but it is way past time for Rivian to offer some (even small) update on R1S timing. R1S is half of Rivian's non-Amazon customer base and it'd be nice if we could get a little more information than "your Guide will contact you by November...
In the Pickup Truck video, at about 19:48, he said the R1S will come "next year". I hope that's wrong.
I asked CS just yesterday if they could give me anything new on timing but just was told I'd hear from a Guide by November.
For anyone that was able to attend the First Drive events, wonder if you brought or saw others bring kids? I have a time slot for this Saturday and wondering if it'd be enjoyable for my 6-year old to tag along for the drive. The sign-up lets you register kids but curious on any perspectives on...
Thanks for the info. I am disappointed that they have pretty much ignored 50% of their customers with R1S reservations in the last few communications. It is great the R1T is coming but let's acknowledge the rest of the customer base and provide a timing update on the timeline for the first R1S...
Finally!
Did not realize 2WD would be an option. That is new to me. Disappointing to hear some negatives around the rear seat but have an R1S so hoping it's not an issue.
I am glad you got a bit about the R1S. 40%+ of the orders are likely for R1S and the amount of information about the current timing for the R1S is another example of bad communication.
It seems Rivian is communicating a bit better the last week or so but they have a long way to go.
Excited overall but the cupholders and the huge key fob are a bummer. I hope there is still a key option that's smaller. I don't want to carry a key that large in my pocket or need to walk around the office with it blipped to my belt.
The approximately one month delay of the R1T first deliveries is not a big deal.
The big deal is that all LE deliveries - originally targeted for completion in 2021 - will take through "spring 2022. That is a 3-6 month delay. In addition, no mention of R1S timing for launch.
The ongoing delays on LEs is really frustrating. It really just means more time for other automakers to bring EVs to the market or announce what their EVs will look like.
At a certain point, if Land Rover or Jeep come out with a strong EV entry I might as well just wait another year (I've...
