Here’s the thing. Almost everyone here knew Rivian had to raise prices eventually. The issues are:
1. The size of the price increase is huge.
2. They’ve known about this for weeks or months. Meanwhile they deliver to employees in front of preorder holders and screw us.
3. People made decisions...
My guess is they also plan to screw everyone who had been receiving good news about deliveries?
Basically, they delayed customer deliveries for 6 months and then did a bait and switch on pricing.
I don't think you should expect to test drive an R1S unless you know someone getting one before you. There is still no evidence that anyone other than senior management at Rivian has taken delivery of an R1S.
Hopefully they get you a chance to drive the R1T.
I think this is the first internet forum I have ever watched and participated in for more than a week. It's really fascinating.
I do have water front property in the Sahara that I think I could sell at a premium to half this group.
Congrats! Excited for godfodder but my reaction is like @SeaGeo, 4-6 weeks is late March at best - maybe April. That’s a big miss from Jan/Feb. Also, it took customer outreach not Rivian reaching out.
Maybe this is 2 steps forward and 1 step back instead of the other way around but Rivian still...
Here's a grievance.
Rivian claimed it in December that it had "sold" its first two R1S's. However, we haven't seen information unique to the R1S except EPA estimates since RJ's instagram story in March 2021. If the vehicle is really ready, share something with a huge set of your reservation...
I will grant that the scenario you describe is not Rivian's fault but missing your own delivery dates again and again is Rivian's fault at a certain point. No one but Rivian made those projections and forecasts. And, more importantly, the communication failures and basic customer interactions...
Around the 16 minute mark, RJ said he moved to IL to help launch that facility and plans to move to GA to ramp up that facility. How many CEOs are out moving from facility to facility to launch it?
I think this statement shows part of the problem. RJ clearly has a vision for the company but he...
To those who voted over 200/week, if Rivian is really at 200/week doesn’t that basically mean they are completing screwing reservation holders by delaying deliveries and prioritizing employees.
Not sure what’s worse at this point - Rivian can’t scale build 200/week or that it is at 200/week but...
Almost anytime a huge plant goes into a community there is going to be pushback from those located closest to it. It will impact their lives - some good and some bad - but the impact is disproportionate on the local community. I am sure Georgians 100 miles away have a positive view because they...
I'd say that ship has already sailed. This board is filled with eager, early adapters and its quite clear goodwill has evaporated with a large group here.
I still have my reservation, I'll still take delivery, and I expect I will still love the R1S BUT when I sing the praises of the vehicle I...
9.5 weeks from Jan. 1 to March 10 at the goal of 200/week is 1,900. We all know Rivian is not hitting 200/week and I doubt they are close.
Impacts of omicron, early January shut down for process improvements, line fire and supply chain plus the failure to meet Jan/Feb delivery dates of the few...
I hope they prioritize delivering vehicles to anyone at this point. They built 1,012 vehicles in 2021 if I recall correctly. I am beginning to wonder if they can get 400 out the door between Jan. 1 and the earnings call.
Unless Rivian is building a stock of vehicles to deliver all at once it doesn’t seem they have a shot at making any of the other windows they’ve told everyone.
Communication is terrible, production is bad or on fire, deliveries are as rare as winning PowerBall numbers, Limestone is a state...
@thelongwaydownunder, did you get a call or email? have you been assigned a Guide?
Not surprising but disappointing Rivian has failed to meet a self-imposed order window AGAIN.
The pace of Rivian's MarComm postings to social media has really picked up over the last 2+ weeks. I want to believe that is a positive sign that more deliveries are coming. (The glass half empty view could be reservations are being cancelled and they are working to drum interest before they...
