  1. Rivian HANDS FREE ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM is coming 2025 + EYES OFF SYSTEM in 2026 -- Per CEO RJ SCARINGE

Anyone hear news of when the hands free driving improvement is coming? Please don't tell me that it is here. I haven't noticed any improvement. All of Rivian software is about an order of magnitude less capable/user friendly than Tesla in my opinion. And Tesla's is still improving, increasing...
  2. Anyone Still Using RAN?

Heck no (but I'd have to find one first not to use it). BTW - iONNA and the EA chargers are at good locations for me in AZ, and I only charge for 10 mins to get me to a home charger when on trips.
  3. Rivian HANDS FREE ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM is coming 2025 + EYES OFF SYSTEM in 2026 -- Per CEO RJ SCARINGE

Forget full self driving, I'd just like it to stay in the lane on the freeway, which it does a poor job of at the moment. (Gen 2 R1S)
  4. Rivian HANDS FREE ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM is coming 2025 + EYES OFF SYSTEM in 2026 -- Per CEO RJ SCARINGE

Comments about Tesla FSD need to state what version of FSD they had personal experience with. If it isn't FSD 13.2.2 or later, the experience on earlier versions is no longer relevant as FSD 13.2.2 is a giant improvement over any previous version.
  5. Parking Brake needs immediate servicing! - Car would not shift into gear

I do have a service appointment scheduled. One month out was the soonest they could get someone to look at it. I do think they need to up their quality game, even though the car hasn't done that since. I'm parking on level surfaces just in case the slant was the issue.
  6. Parking Brake needs immediate servicing! - Car would not shift into gear

Got this at 2:30 am one night on my 2 week old R1S. Immediate serving required as the parking brake has failed! Must been an automatic parking brake. I was parked in a driveway with a slight slant, so perhaps it applied it for me, which I didn't think was necessary. A google search said...
  7. Cybertruck sales appear to be down, way down.

The CT looks like a fun big boy toy. In another life, I would have bought one at these lower prices. However, I'm happy with a Model Y and an R1S. The 2004 Chevy colorado has been borrowed a zillion of times when people need the open bed, but other than that, it hardly gets driven anymore.
  8. R1S Lease vs. Buy - I did the math

Delivery delayed 5 days and vin number changed because the shipping from Ca just wasn't happening (3rd party shipper), but the same build as mine appeared locally, so will take delivery tomorrow. It would have been a mess (change of vin number would have caused issues) if I had signed the lease...
  9. R1S Lease vs. Buy - I did the math

I made the mistake of paying the closing fees early, thus the final agreement got sent to me a few days early with the start of the lease on the day I made the closing costs. I'm just going to wait until the delivery day to sign the final docs, because that will be when the lease should really...
  10. R1S Lease vs. Buy - I did the math

We are about 8.5% sales tax Here is another statement - this was pre official lease doc.
  11. R1S Lease vs. Buy - I did the math

Does anyone know how they calculate line "ell" L in section 9? Also, my lease ends on the day I sign this +3 yrs. They want me to sign it 3 days before I take delivery. I plan to sign it on the day I take delivery - don't want to give up 3 free days for nothing. Then down in section 10 they say...
  12. R1S Lease vs. Buy - I did the math

I'd only consider a used Gen 2, but not many of them depreciated enough now to be widely available.
  13. R1S Lease vs. Buy - I did the math

A day without math is like a day without sunshine.
  14. R1S Lease vs. Buy - I did the math

Same here. One other option is to consider buying with cash and then selling after 3 yrs vs the 3 yr lease and not buying it out. The uncertainty of the actual money I'd get if I sold it on my own after 3 yrs is more than I want to handle. If I'm not going to keep it, I think the lease with the...
  15. R1S Lease vs. Buy - I did the math

You are quite right. I will modify my comment. I'm not a finance person, but am a numbers person.
  16. R1S Lease vs. Buy - I did the math

I'm a long time cash buyer, but the $7500 savings on a lease is making me think otherwise. I like your NPV calculator. I think that the earnings rates you suggest is interpreted as earnings after inflation. I like to think of the cash outlay as how much annual earning I'm losing every year by...
  17. Estimate of money owed at the end of an R1T Lease - residual value? One more chance to soak the customer?

Quite right - I've never done a lease before. I worry about the subjectiveness of the excess wear/tear fee. I've warmed up to the idea of a lease because eventually I'd like my EV to provide power to the house to complement my solar battery (a puny, but typical 10 kWh unit). So buying outright...
  18. Estimate of money owed at the end of an R1T Lease - residual value? One more chance to soak the customer?

Since very few if any people have leased an R1T and returned it at the end of the lease, does anyone have any guesses of how much more money one has to dish out when returning a vehicle after a 2 or 3 yr lease? I'm thinking lease, but the end of the lease payment feels really nebulous to me.
  19. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

My 30 minute R1S test drive at noon at their facility near 101 and I 17 in June, sitting in the middle row, was warm. The whole car was baking in the sun and it was probably 110 that day at noon. AC just couldn't blow cold air back there - conduit/ducts needed to cool down? Anyway, a big car...
