  1. Proximity unlock stopped working

... from my phone and both fobs, both at home and in foreign locations. Hard reset did not solve it. Has anyone else had this occur? I'll add it to my list of issues. I just got out of service for a drive unit replacement at 1,500 miles, not itching to go back. Fortunately this is a minor issue.
  2. Is Rivian’s A.I. All Locked Down?

Rivian's software is so bad I don't expect them to do anything meaningful in AI. Maybe they will license something from Volvo or Mobileye.
  3. Electrek: EV sales have not fallen, cooled, slowed or slumped. Stop lying in headlines

I can see why the headline exists; fromhttps://www.coxautoinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Q2-2024-Kelley-Blue-Book-Electric-Vehicle-Sales-Report.pdf (which I believe are US sales only) you can see that QoQ EV sales are down in Q2 for: Chevrolet Mercedes Polestar Porsche Tesla Volvo VW Those...
  4. Ford Patents In-Car System That Eavesdrops So It Can Play You Ads

https://www.motortrend.com/news/ford-in-vehicle-advertising-patent/ Imagine your car playing you an ad based on your destination, vehicle information—and listening to your conversations. Alex Kierstein Sep 03, 2024 Yeah, you read the headline right. Ford has patented a system that, per the...
  5. Grit Podcast - RJ Scaringe, CEO and Founder of Rivian

If he had that vision, he wouldn't be selling pollution credits to other manufacturers, which have the effect of a) stalling their EV programs and b) harming the planet by negating any environmental advantage to buying a Rivian. He also wouldn't have studied ICE engines for this Ph.D. thesis.
  6. 2024.31.01

Auto. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
  7. Not connecting to Home WIFI

I don’t have a mesh system, I have seven WiFi APs connected via cat6 backhawl, and still my Rivians have trouble connecting. Three of these APs are within 30 feet of the cars. Same story: phones inside the car have a great signal, but the cars struggle. Rivian must use a terrible WiFi antenna...
  8. Rivian Referral Code Program ("Rivian Rewards") Announced

Woo, looking forward to redeeming a Tesla Roadster! Finally!
  9. (Buyer Beware) Don't Buy Your Rivian (Massive Day 1 Depreciation) - You're better off Leasing If You Can

Definitely lease you can. There may be further price cuts or JD Power quality surveys which will hurt resale, don’t take the risk.
  10. Metallic whirling noise; normal? [NO: failing drive unit]

PSA: service confirms this is a failing rear drive unit. 1,500 miles, dual motor.
  11. (Buyer Beware) Don't Buy Your Rivian (Massive Day 1 Depreciation) - You're better off Leasing If You Can

I wasn't able to resolve my suspension issues with that thread at service, but honestly, I shouldn't have to read this forum to do so. I bought a car to take me places reliably, and save me time and energy. I didn't intend to buy a second job: which is keeping it running/repaired. If I had that...
  12. How to Improve a Gen 1 Rivian R1S’s Elevation Sound System After Update 2024.27.01 With Simple EQ Changes

This is great! It's not enough, though--I'm considering replacing almost all the speakers on my G1 Elevation system. I'm used to crisp Tesla sound and the Rivian just irks me. The 3D stuff, in particular, pales in comparison to Tesla/Apple's sound enhancers, which is a shame, because that could...
  13. Yes, Rivian does report the speed limit as 80 MPH

I don't know if my Rivian read the sign, or some other car with cameras read it and then added it to a database that Rivian uses. Either way, I thought it was pretty funny! Get off my lawn, punk kids!
  14. Rivian plant fire update: extinguished with no injuries reported

Why would Rivian have these vehicles at the factory and not distributed to service centers? Parking space at the factory is valuable. I think this is wishful thinking on the part of the fanboys.
  15. Yes, Rivian does report the speed limit as 80 MPH

Saw this the other day, found it funny. This isn't the actual sign, because I was driving, but it was close. My Rivian happily took it literally in the display.
  16. Connect+ is Here

Also what they want to retain is the ability to charge people $15 a month for things they would get for free with CarPlay. Which is high, considering that Rivian isn't even 5G and will never be (short of buying a new car). I already have a phone which is easily twice as fast as the Rivian...
  17. Gen 2 Rivian R1S vs Gen 1 Side By Side Build Quality Comparison Review!

As an aside, how do these YouTubers get their cars? It would seem hard to buy them anonymously; if I were Rivian I would make sure they got the best cars that came off the line, then hand tweak them. Note to self: start YouTube channel and gain tens of thousands of followers before buying next car.
  18. Poor build quality for Gen2 R1S vs Gen1 & subsequent buyer's remorse

I've been in for service about ten times and have received a loaner for three of them. That was early on. For the last year or two, no loaners, only offers for cheap Lyft credits or terrible rental cars (which are a hassle to get--my time is valuable).
  19. Poor build quality for Gen2 R1S vs Gen1 & subsequent buyer's remorse

I feel your pain. The Rivian "no dealership" model lets them get away with selling poor quality product to consumers, while at the same time, making it harder for buyers to find these problems (no test drives). And of course, with a monopoly on service, it can take months to get these issues...
  20. Problems with Dynamic Glass Roof R1S?

The Tesla Roadster is the car for them!
