Sorry, I meant a test drive of the exact car you’re going to buy. I wrote that way too quickly. So, if there is some quality problem with your car that doesn’t exist on the test drive car, you might not be able to find it…
As an aside, I wish there were a no glass roof option. It reduces the range of the car by letting in too much heat in summer and leaking too much heat in winter.
Neither is Rivian. It doesn’t offer test drives before you buy, either. You can at least sit inside the vehicle and look at the glass roof (unless you take delivery at night).
It’s not all bad. The reason cancer risk is so high is because people are living longer and dying less of other things; see: https://www.nature.com/articles/bjc2014606.
So the higher your birth year, the higher your lifetime risk of cancer, because the healthier you are. And if you’re a women...
EMF is not the quite same as RF produced by cell phones, but my main concern is not me, but my children. As far as I know, there are no studies which link cell phone use to childhood leukemia.
That said, I don’t sit my kids butts down for 20 hours a week on an active cell phone, like they would...
Ha! That looks like Mylar. If that man is concerned about a sunburn, I’d recommend a hat or mineral sunscreen. Or perhaps he just ran a marathon, but I doubt it! :D
I’ve actually measured the amount of EMF emitted by Rivians, because children who would be sitting in the back seat of a Rivian (near the motor) for up to 20 hours a week (commuting to school) have exposure to EMF far above that of high power lines, and high power lines have shown an association...
I don't think you can compare Gen 1 to Gen 2 with a sample size of two cars. Even within Gen 1 there was significant quality variability across cars, and that might also carry over to Gen 2.
The Carpodgo is 60 FPS and works pretty well. It's the best system I have found. What can I say--to each their own.
I upgrade my phone every year. When I do, I get the latest connectivity technologies. With CarPlay, I can extend those into my car. With Rivian, I cannot upgrade connectivity...
I used the dash mount, along with some double sided sticky tape to prevent rattles. I'm tall enough that when resting on the dash, the screen only obscures the hood, not the road, so a simple dash setup works for me.
It's hard to hear in the recording, but there's an aspect to the whirrl which has a ringing sound and it doesn't, at least to me, sound good for the longevity of "something."
Golden ears of the Internet,
My new R1T exhibits a noise that my R1Ses did/do not: a metallic whirl at low speeds (5-12 MPH). This is distinct from the more high pitched motor whine I've heard in the past under hard acceleration. It sounds like it may be originating from the rear of the...
Interesting, nobody has six-digit-long appointment numbers (and invoice numbers) but me. Why am I special?
Umm, rhetorical question… :) They do make me look dumb.
I don't know why they would delay this feature, which is simple, other than perhaps they're afraid that the increased usage of the mirror motors is going to increase failures and thus warranty costs. I hope they didn't cheap out and chose a motor with decent longevity.
Mine are actually across service centers. Two more just recently opened. I’m sure someone will come along with a request they filed today or tomorrow and that will be another data point. Mine come from the Rivian mobile app, just in case there are multiple kinds of numbers floating around.
When you said “dang” just now, everyone knows you meant “d*mn”, but it’s a fig leaf to cover your junk. F*ck is similar. I could use “feck” “fudge” or “frack” but then I risk offending the Irish, the bakers, or the brave, determined crew of Battlestar Galactica, respectively. :-)
Thank you. That settles it, then. They're random, and my monotonically increasing numbers are just a very unlikely coincidence. I'll update the thread title.
