Ha it's so tempting! Could be rewarding. But I'm out of time as it is with the day job (heading to Singapore as I write this) Maybe someday...!
That's awesome of you, we appreciate it! This current trip will be centered around Canyonlands but we have our future trip sights on Sedona and Saguaro...
Just looking at materials and not counting the Ecoflow and the Dometic the most expensive parts were plywood for $180 and drawer slides for $150. All in I think the whole thing ended up between $800 and $900 in materials.
Edit: oh ya, build time... I started drawing it up on July 12th and then...
Here's my take on an interim camp kitchen I built ahead of our road trip through the Southwest. I've had a great time building it and drawing inspiration from others, so sharing here in the hopes someone gets some ideas flowing.
The goals were:
Keep cost reasonable since we plan to get the...
I may or may not know someone very close to me that works at a PPF manufacturer and knows "how the sausage gets made" lol. I've been self installing 3M Pro Series on our R1T and have installed 3M VentureShield on my other vehicle. Pro Series is more like Xpel with self-healing properties...
Hey, yes was referring to the ZEF at the Trail's Travel Center. Which is too bad as it's a convenient place to stop.
The EA station must have just opened! Thank goodness as that stretch needed one and I am often visiting Albert Lea. But the latest check-in doesn't seem promising. You can try it...
I just charged in Eau Claire yesterday at the EA and it was our fastest charge yet at something like 440mi/hr so can confirm it works.
I've done the I-35 stretch between Des Moines and St Paul a few times now and no issues.
I'd recommend charging up before leaving DSM and then stopping part way...
Thanks for getting the rangers up to speed for the rest of us. And good to know about the tonneau. I'm building a bed insert with slides for our cooler, power bank and water as we speak for the exact situation you described. Seems like a matter of when it fails and not if.
Also, that's a...
Wonderful to hear the positive news, South! I'm feeling much better about making the drive. Thank you for the quick summary report and congrats on the EV milestone! Share a pic of your truck on the trail for us sometime if you have a good one.
Bumping this thread to see if anyone has done the full White Rim on a single charge yet. @South I think you were looking at a June excursion; did your truck arrive in time?
We're gearing up for the trail in Sept.
I haven't tried that but just eyeballing it I don't see any reason it wouldn't fit. The crossbars will be narrower on the roof but the tent's mounting rails are narrower still.
It's a great tent just from initial inspection, I don't think it's a bad option. I had ordered direct from iKamper when they first opened up their preorders. The are some retailers I recall seeing, perhaps one would have the Rocky in stock?
Stars aligned and we were able to get the iKamper Skycamp Mini mounted and aired out ahead of our upcoming trip. It fits the R1T bed well; length, width and height are great. Reverse mounted it to minimize drag as much as possible; shall see if we keep it that way. Quality of the tent is...
That's the same reasoning as to why I originally disabled TCW, so was surprised to see that enabling it worked in our situation.
And for clarity, this fixed the issue with the truck not seeing our WiFi. Our Rivian charger didn't have any connection issues in either configuration.
We had the same issue with WiFi but we were able to fix it after some poking around with router settings. Our router has both 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz and we ended up enabling a mode called "Total Control Wireless." "TCW is a proprietary mechanism used to control multiple Wi-Fi access points." Sounds...
We took delivery yesterday at the service center (technically at a park down the road, fine by us) and it was better than expected. Our delivery specialist, Nathan, was wonderful and friendly and made the experience that much better. The team at the service center were great to work with as our...
That's a bummer about Sun Control but good info, thanks for sharing. $1800 is a great price.
I'm several hours into my PPF bulk install at home right now. Tedious to be sure but this way I only have myself to blame for any issues.
To those that have been to the MN Service Center and talked to someone working there, what's the general feel from them when showing up unannounced?
I'm considering making a trip there to see if I can get an update on our R1T re-paint. We've got a couple events coming up in the next few weeks...
