OK... well I'm not an electrician... and I don't have a dog in this hunt... but I'm just trying to figure out the best course of action in a remodel currently underway of a rental house where I would like to make a circuit capable of charging an EV available to future tenants. Providing a high...
Progress has been slow. Much of this has been covered in other threads here, including the earlier referenced 'Ghetto Method' thread. As I responded there, and copied here in semi-response to your question:
"Ultimately all of this points to the clear desire by owners to make full use of their...
OK, thanks. So the 'Tesla Tap' looks to be available in 40, 50, & 80 amp variants, all at different price points. With the Tesla portable charger (still waiting for mine to arrive), and all the various adapters (also waiting to arrive), it appears 50 amp circuits are the highest the plug-in...
Yeah, I'm aware and have contributed to that thread... as I said, there is always a way. But the 'Ghetto method' thread is clearly an edge case with LOTS of issues (!!!) and caveats. But I gather other people are finding less involved ways of getting backup power out of their Rivians and...
Starting a major remodel on a house I own that will be exclusively a rental. Given that, I've specified a new breaker and dedicated 14-50 plug (vs hardwired) be installed in the garage to allow tenants with EVs to install their own charger (or not) via the plug in. I will ask for copper vs...
Yeah, this is my focus as well. Thanks for the additional info regarding the indicator lights on the Tesla chargers. When my Tesla charger arrives I will dive into the manuals for both the Rivian and Tesla portable chargers. Had my R1T since 12/30/23... still waiting for local authority...
Same here... glad to hear this is working out. But yeah... how are people running all these things on 2kWh? @Carmelbythesea for example: "forced air hvac gas fired"... I get that the gas is supplying the heat, but how do you tap into what I assume is a hard-wired home furnace setup? Obviously...
OK, thanks for correcting my 'wrong turn' :like: - duly noted.
So to my comment, and based on feedback from others, is this statement accurate: "Tesla portable charger has additional intelligence/sensors built in that allow greater capabilities and safety features"? I.E. aside from having a...
Are you suggesting the Rivian portable charger has basically the same āsmartsā as the Tesla one⦠just that the adapters are not available from Rivian to allow us to take advantage of the Rivian chargerās capabilities? That seems counter to other peopleās comments that the Tesla portable charger...
@R.I.P. , based on your feedback and other research I recently purchased the Tesla Mobil EVSE and the NEMA adapter bundle. They havenāt arrived yet, but a question occurred to me belatedly⦠will I have to use Teslaās app to charge using the Tesla Mobil charger? Will I now have to use 2 different...
Check with Supreme Wraps. Happy with my PPF and ceramic coat⦠not sure if they do chrome delete. Talk to Patrick (518) 603-1495. Not too far from the Orlando SC.
In a previous life with my Ridgeline I had this issue, but in a pinch could disengage the garage door opener manual disconnect, push the door up several more inches and put a clamp on the rail to hold it up while I pulled in/out. Was mainly an occasional thing when I wanted to get in with my...
I was in your shoes⦠early reservation with early pricing; a very strong use case (need!) for the PTC (specifically a cover that could disappear into the bulkhead); and a binding purchase agreement with a $7.5K 2022 tax bill that was dying to be washed away with my R1T purchase. The PTC and the...
So far, looks good to me. I'll decide to do the same based on your experience when you get it finalized with the EVSportline unit. Interested to hear your thoughts on the glare effects mentioned by @racekarl as well once installed and tested at night (do you use your rear camera non-stop on the...
Well isn't that special :like:. Thanks so much! Shows what a beginner I am with the app.
Funny... I had nothing better to do than start a chat session with Rivian Service on this issue... they had no clue. Thanks again!
Not sure this helps the OP, but it solves my question.
I've also reviewed all the options... and lean toward something that uses the OEM tracks. Just cancelled the Rivian manual one (at early pricing) and put in an order for the Interrobang cover a couple days ago. But it will likely be over a month before I see it.
PS: I asked Bill of Interrobang...
