  1. Tesla's Dangerous Doors (electronic door latches) - Can Rivian please not follow this trend?

Volvo did this right in the EX90 - the internal handles are both the electronic switch and the emergency mechanical release. So if for whatever reason the electronic release is not working - you just pull the handle harder and it releases the door. Considering this almost certainly the natural...
  2. Rivian Update 2025.34 Now Downloading! - Upgrades / Fixes to Expect

I'm in agreement with many of these arguments in the thread, but equating CarPlay to be requiring an always on mobile connection is a leap. It works fine in many signal deprived areas.
  3. Media Missing in 2025.30: Anyone else having gear-guard issues with gen2?

Great - thanks! The release notes are becoming increasingly obvious as just marking fluff - e.g. in the last month alone we saw the media do pieces one do a video on how 2025.26 was 'all about bug fixes and stability' when in fact it was the single biggest software shift in Rivian vehicles EVER...
  4. 2nd gen manual door opening from the outside?

Think my humor was lost there (or perhaps just not funny): but yeah you can 100% open (and unlock if required) a 1968 beetle when the 12V is totally dead from the outside.
  5. Media Missing in 2025.30: Anyone else having gear-guard issues with gen2?

This is awesome, not sure what your stack is internally, I'm mostly infrastructure focused - but happy to help in any way I can!
  6. Using Phone as NFC Key (like card)

I would be very surprised if NFC was not supported in the Wallet integrations - it's part of the CCC specification. Rivian either chose not to support WCC1 in gen1 as they didn't make/like the business case, or as they could not dynamically update the NFC reader (I suspect the latter, and...
  7. Media Missing in 2025.30: Anyone else having gear-guard issues with gen2?

Our gen1 has been immune to this - out gen2 was just in service for camera issues (which found a camera with water ingress as well as issues on the AXM's internal ssd) - unfortualy with the new update now applied its gone from being an annoyance to pervasive - resets in our gen 2 last less than...
  8. Media Missing in 2025.30: Anyone else having gear-guard issues with gen2?

Do you also have either or both of the following: 1) missing footage as well - ie clips showing as deleted that were simply never recorded? 2) jumps in the recordings - ie missing seconds within them?
  9. Rivian Update 2025.34 Now Downloading! - Upgrades / Fixes to Expect

Gen1 does this, and has done so for years. Don’t disagree that this company has played many games in this space - but it does automatically steer on highways and you can set the speed via buttons on the wheel. The speel about the gen1 architecture having headroom for 10 years of development...
  10. Media Missing in 2025.30: Anyone else having gear-guard issues with gen2?

Before I go nuclear, can anyone tell me if they have experienced this on their gen2 R1? Background: Just got truck back from service for camera and recording issues, and I'm completely unconvinced that things are resolved. If this is an issue with all/many/some gen2's then I suppose I'll bite...
  11. [Un-Resolved again!] Why am I doing this to myself - long time Rivian customer close to giving up.

the things you notice when you look down at a RAN: I mean come on?! I don’t even think they had had the driver seat out. Of course putting to bolt cover back in place is easy - but the drivers side carpet is a fucking pita. Edit: contacted the SC and they are looking into it. Edit2: they have...
  12. [Un-Resolved again!] Why am I doing this to myself - long time Rivian customer close to giving up.

Knowing our luck - the 6 months of 0 trouble with the T will be the day somthing happens to the S! Anyway about to head out and up to Normal now, and burn some hotel points. Have meetings in the AM and can’t afford to loose another day of work to this. Will get some snaps of the construction...
  13. The Dreaded Axle Clunk is Back for Gen 1 AND Early Gen 2! But my R1S Now is Better Than New from Factory

Really like these long form posts dude. I think a lot of this comes down to tolerances - our OG Quad was slop/clunk/ting ( :D) free for the year we had it, whist a friends was constantly getting looked at for this. Reminds me so much of the issues with bicycle bottom bracket designs (which in...
  14. Rivian's Secret Weapon: Zonal Architecture (The Tech VW Is Paying Billions For)

Doesn't GET is not the same as wont build - they are 100% building a joint infotainment system where the difference will be in the skin applied above it. Also expect the audio platform to be shared between VW and Rivian moving fwd - as well as many aspects of ADAS etc (perhaps not the actual...
  15. Tesla's Dangerous Doors (electronic door latches) - Can Rivian please not follow this trend?

Cost. (solenoid + cable release mechanism designed for relatively small number of uses MTBF VS solenoid + mechanical release mechanism designed for a massive number of uses MTBF) Now the cost argument seems only partially realised at present - if the front door setup on our gen2's is anything...
  16. Bad Leasing and Delivery Experience

I wish you were correct, but unfortunately Rivians dont work like that. Does your range show 330 miles at 100%? If so that’s because like every other Rivian they don’t actually (as of yet) do anything other than effectively multiply the SOC by a number to make it match the estimated range (EPA...
  17. High pitched noise from passenger A pillar.

Not normal - I've driven quite a few Rivians' (our own, friends, and 5+ loaners), and our gen2 R1T is the only one thats made this sound - and only started making it after being serviced. Our 2 year old hates it. I think it hits his ears hard - he only wants to go in the R1S.
  18. Bad Leasing and Delivery Experience

It’s based on a blend of modes as best we can make out rather than being for any one mode.
