  1. 50 Amp Toggle Switch?

I have a 40 amp charger on one 50 amp circuit in my garage. I also have a garage space heater on a different 50 amp circuit breaker. I want to add a 2nd charger to the garage. I was wondering if a toggle switch could be installed on the circuit with the space heater to select between...
  2. RJ says R2 expansion at Normal plant moving quickly!

On a related note. This was posted on the Inside EVs website today. More good news. “Just days before President Trump took office, the Biden administration finalized a colossal $6.6 billion loan for Rivian to finance the construction of its Georgia plant. Now the question looms: Can Trump...
  3. Update: Georgia factory construction begins 2026, with R2/R3/R3X production in 2028 -- (article published 1/22/25)

From Inside EVs article today “ Just days before President Trump took office, the Biden administration finalized a colossal $6.6 billion loan for Rivian to finance the construction of its Georgia plant. Now the question looms: Can Trump pull the U.S. government out of its agreement with the EV...
  4. To FOB, or not to FOB?

Yes. But if I’m carrying that around, why not just use the key FOB and get the benefit of that?
  5. To FOB, or not to FOB?

I really want to know how people are so happy with the phone as key???? I find it very frustrating at times. You walk away and wait, wait, wait to see if the vehicle actually locks. 10% of the time it doesn't. I can't wait to buy a FOB from the gear shop. Also, what do you do with your...
  6. Budman

    Paul Bunyans Garage of Minnesota

I do the same as you but cannot give you a good reason why! Just don’t want it to run for those few moments before it shuts down? I always used to use manual. But now I have a Gen2 R1T and the HVAC is undeniably louder. But sometimes in auto it is much quieter and sometimes in manual it is...
  7. First Towing Test in my R1T

In 2023 the only option available was the large pack at 132 kWh.
  8. Hitch Bike Rack's Effect on Vehicle Efficiency

The tent on the back of my R1T seems to cut my range 10% to 15% or so. Just a guess, no rigorous testing.
  9. All Terrain Tires Barely Slow The Rivian R1T Max Pack - 10% Challenge Road Trip Simulation [by Out of Spec Testing]

This does not answer your particular question but it is a data set I put together recently that might offer some insight and intuition for your questions. Cheers; https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/r1t-gen-1-quad-large-vs-gen-2-dual-max-pack-efficiency-and-charging-analysis.37135/
  10. All Terrain Tires Barely Slow The Rivian R1T Max Pack - 10% Challenge Road Trip Simulation [by Out of Spec Testing]

There is variation in charging performance, battery temperature, ambient temperature and wind and traffic conditions that a one-off test like this just does not capture very well. Don't put too much faith in these numbers, they are only single sample estimate.
  11. Engineering Investigation

No contact from Rivian for me. My VIN is very close to yours.
  12. Hitch Bike Rack's Effect on Vehicle Efficiency

Somebody else already directed you to a previous thread of mine documenting the efficiency I've experienced with my R1T, now R1Ts as I'm onto a 2nd Gen R1T. Attached is an up to date graph of the data I've collected. With regard to your question of the effect of a bike rack, look at the 2...
  13. PSA on R1S gen2 failure when reboot won't work, door handles half open

Seems like Rivian roadside support people have a 3 step flowchart to follow. 1. Try soft reset 2. Try hard reset 3 Send tow truck
  14. Battery freeze up

What was the battery temperature? Did you was preconditioning occurring while you were driving to the chargers?
  15. Battery freeze up

I don’t agree. I drove my Gen 2 this week at -13 deg F and I got full heat in less than 1 minute. I set the cabin temp at 66 deg and was very comfortable. If a heat pump had to extract heat from cold air they do struggle. But the Rivian gets excess heat from the warm motors so they work...
  16. Battery freeze up

Here is a post I remember from a couple years ago on the Mach-e forum. A Mach-e left outside in Fairbanks at -35F. All was fine except the expected range loss and weak cabin heating https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/35f-37c-real-world-mach-e-range-test-what-could-go-wrong.11669/ Text...
  17. 2023 Gen 1 Quad vs 2025 Gen 2 Dual Standard

Regarding the HVAC noise. If you haven’t, put the system on AUTO. It is much quieter than manual.
