I've been experiencing Level 2 charging issues as well in cold weather. Yesterday and overnight I ran an experiment to try and determine if there is a certain battery temperature that is needed to allow level 2 charging.
I used three different level 2 chargers to rule out charger hardware...
Help me. I have multiple cards in my iPhone wallet. My credit card comes up by default. If I put the Rivian card in the wallet. I have to;
1. Take out my phone
2. Wake my phone and open the wallet.
3. Take my winter gloves off.
4. Tap the Rivian card to bring that to the front
5. Be close...
We are planning a trip through there in April. Looks like you stayed at Capital Reef RV and Glamping. Is that right? Would you recommend?
I saw them on VRBO but then looked at PlugShare and found zero check-ins for their 14-50 plugs so kinda wrote them off the list.
Dec 5, 2025 Update:
I've had a chance to do some cold, snow, and Ice driving on the Outpost nAT tires. Time for an update;
EFFICENCY:
In my original post I reported on a big loss in efficiency with the Outpost nAT tires. But that efficiency hit is much less at cold temperatures! I'm...
I see now I misunderstood your question in my first response. I have had the tail gate freeze shut because it froze to the rubber gasket on the tonneau. I could not pull the gate down with my hands. I worked my way along the gasket to break the ice and then it opened. This happened once in...
I think it is almost impossible for the buttons to freeze. The hatches could freeze shut like anny other vehicle if water gets in the joint. The buttons are not a risk.
Don’t write off the usefulness of Level 1 120v charging. We are currently in the upper peninsula of Michigan on a ski trip. Using a 120v outdoor outlet at our VRBO. Added 7% to the battery overnight. Over the three day stay it will add up. And, it keeps the battery warm for better efficiency...
Three seasons driving around Minnesota and Wisconsin. Does really well in the winter. The heat pump on the Gen 2 puts out a lot of heat really quickly. Snow mode really does make a difference on handling.
My truck stays in a garage and plugged into a Level 2 charger most of the time so I...
The plots are from a Python program I wrote.
I reset the Trip A meter before departing. Record the data by hand into an Excel file on my laptop and save it as a .csv format I then use a Python script (Python is a programming language popular in the engineering community). The script calculates...
It's pretty unlikely there is anything wrong with your truck. Plenty of reports of Superchargers under delivering power.
A suggestion I have is to make sure the Rivian battery is 80 deg F or higher for fast charging. As it gets colder now it can take 30 minutes or more to warm the battery...
