  1. R2 Performance Launch Edition Poll: Are You Interested?

That's just interest in the Lauch edition, the highest priced trim. Many are waiting for a lower priced trim or a later version of R2 that has LIDAR. I'm surprised it is as high as 69% given all the commnts on other threads here about wanting LIDAR.
  2. Am I the only one who thinks anything less than 400mi of range is legacy at this point?

    1. Calibration Issues 2. Cold weather charging 3. Energy density. Calibration: One of the selling points of LFP is "you get to charge to 100% regularly". It should also be said "you have to charge to 100% regularly". Without getting into details, if you don't charge to 100% regularly the...
  3. Am I the only one who thinks anything less than 400mi of range is legacy at this point?

Yes and no. I live in MN and venture deep into the northwoods in winter a lot and also do camping trips deep into the wilderness out west. I have a max pack R1T with >400 miles range and am very happy I do. We have a R2 on order as a second vehicle and I am totally ok with the 330 mile range...
  4. Musk: ~80% of Tesla [future] value will be Optimus Robots

I've expressed my deep skepticism of humanoid robots here a few times. I think RJ has articulated those sentiments better than I can here in this article about the Rivian spin off, MIND ROBOTICS. My opinion of him as a CEO continues to increase. Below is a couple of paragraphs in particular...
  5. R2 Performance Launch Edition Poll: Are You Interested?

I don’t give a rat-tat-tooy about autonomy. I’ll take the good deal on the performance upgrade of the launch edition. I’ll wave as I drive by. I’ll be the guy with the smile on my face.
  6. Rivian R2 place in line

Just got a phone call from a Rivian guide. He also said the actual configurator and ordering step will be available in June.
  7. 2026 R2 pricing, range & specs! $57,990 Performance Launch Edition / $53,990 Premium / $48,490 Standard / $45,000 Standard (Smaller Battery)

The EPA combined city/hwy cycle is real world driving and accurate. I achieve those range numbers regularly in my R1T when I drive a similar profile. Is just not the 75mph highway range estimate a lot of people assume or want it to be. But, it is real world driving for many situations. The...
  8. 2026 R2 pricing, range & specs! $57,990 Performance Launch Edition / $53,990 Premium / $48,490 Standard / $45,000 Standard (Smaller Battery)

The XC60 looks good on paper. But manufacturers specs don’t capture everything…. https://www.edmunds.com/car-news/2025-volvo-ex30-tech-nightmare-long-term-update.html
  9. 2026 R2 pricing, range & specs! $57,990 Performance Launch Edition / $53,990 Premium / $48,490 Standard / $45,000 Standard (Smaller Battery)

I’m in for a launch edition. 2 years ago we bought a Volvo XC40 recharge for $55,000. It has 250 miles of range, 2000lb towing, very rudimentary software, 150kw peak charging and small cargo space. R2 is better in every way for a similar price 2 years later. I’ll take it.
  10. New RJ interview on robotaxi, autonomy, personal vehicle ownership, cash burn rate, R2 (BuyHoldRant podcast)

Completely agree. There are so many issues, can’t see it happening. Say someplace uses it, gets out but does not close the door. Then your vehicle is stranded. Just one of many things that could go wrong.
  11. Countering cold, winter weather effects for those living in the northern states.

Thank you. Means a lot to me because way back before I got my R1T I had a deposit on a Mustang Mach-e and was watching the mach e forums. There was a 12V battery issue then and I remember you making very intelligent and helpful posts on that issue. So the respect is mutual.
  12. Countering cold, winter weather effects for those living in the northern states.

Here is that graph again. I"ve been through 3 winters with my R1T, first a Gen 1 for 55,000 miles and now a Gen 2 with 32,000 miles. I live in MN and have a cabin in northern WI we visit frequently (that's how I get so much data for this graph).where temperatures routinely drop into the -20...
  13. Hitch brake light options?

I think it is these. Won’t be able to check for a few days. If different, will reply again https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/optronics/trailer---towing/trailer-electrical/trailer-light-kits/f45cd4c518da/optronics-25-foot-halogen-trailer-light-kit/opt0/tl11rk Mounted so
  14. Ford EV Truck & Low-Cost Platform -- Specs & Details (48V, Zonal Architecture, LFP battery, Gigacasting)

It all sounds good except for the LFP battery. I would need a lot of evidence that it is ok in a cold climate to purchase a vehicle with LFP. A Lot of Evidence! The Rivian LFP offerings have not inspired confidence in that chemistry.
  15. Anyone else been here in a Rivian? (White Pocket, AZ)

We will be there in mid-April. This is my plan. This is from the PlugShare trip planner. Not many people know about the Trip Planner function in PlugShare but it is pretty much all I use. Will be starting from Cliff Dwellers Lodge in Marble Canyon with 100% charge. Will also be going to...
  16. Day 1 Snowstorm, screens blacked out

It’s not due to cold, I’ve driven in -25 F. If soft and hard resets don’t fix it then it’s probably going to need a visit to the service center.
  17. Anyone else been here in a Rivian? (White Pocket, AZ)

Thanks for the advice! I'm used to driving in snow but this desert off roading thing is new to me. I got some MaxTrax recovery boards. I've got tow straps and shackles. Will be carrying a spade. So I think I'm pretty well prepared. Will air down the tires as needed and have a compressor...
  18. Anyone else been here in a Rivian? (White Pocket, AZ)

I’m headed that way in April! Plan to camp overnight in our R1T. Then to South Coyote Buttes the next day (we got on of the few permits). I bought AT tires just for this trip. Coming from MN. Also going to Toroweep and Alstrum Point and Valley of the Gods. Among other places. Before going...
  19. Doug DeMuro Can't Stop Praising R2

The BMW and Volvo will charge faster which I might benefit from a couple times a year. The R2 will have much better cargo space and utility which I will benefit from daily. I’ll take that trade off.
