  1. Scheduled Charging

Where do you find that on the screen in the car? I've looked all over and can not seem to find it. Looks like you have a lightning bolt in the bottom dock in your screen. I don't have that on mine, and don't know how to get it there.
  2. R1T Gen 1 Quad Large vs. Gen 2 Dual Max Pack: Efficiency and Charging Analysis

At low SOC, the car will charge at ~200kW. That means you're adding ~8 miles of range for every minute spent charging, or expressed differently - the rate at which you add miles to the battery pack is 480mph. As long as you drive less than 480mph(obviously I'm being sarcastic here), then...
  3. R1T Gen 1 Quad Large vs. Gen 2 Dual Max Pack: Efficiency and Charging Analysis

This kind of question comes up repeatedly on forums for many different EVs. The short answer is that if your goal is lowest overall travel time - then you want to drive as fast as possible. As long as you're driving at a speed(in mph) is faster than the charge rate(in mph) then you're...
  4. R1S Lease vs. Buy - I did the math

I know what NPV is. But I have no idea what you're trying to show here. It seems like you've accounted for the sales tax on scenario #1 where you buy the car with cash, but haven't fully accounted for it in scenarios #2, #3, #4 where you'll owe the remainder of the sales tax at buyout time...
  5. Disposing of 21" wheels

Ye Yeah I'd be coming from San Diego, so Burbank is already far enough. Tehachapi would just about require a hotel for the night!
  6. Disposing of 21" wheels

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping "north of LA" meant something like Burbank or worst-case Santa Clarita :) Tehachapi is a bit further than I can realistically go.
  7. Disposing of 21" wheels

How much are you looking to sell it for?
  8. Upcoming Gen 2 R1S incentives? Order now or wait it out?

The current incentives are: 1)$3500 loyalty 2)$7500 EV credit from the government that Rivian is passing on a lease transaction, or alternatively a $3750 tax credit that goes direct to the person on a purchase transaction but has lots of income/vehicle-type and price stipulations 3)$750 referral...
  9. Gear guard saves me

Just got my Rivian a few days ago and went to home depot with it. I had this exact same thought. The home depot was so crowded that even most of the parking spots out in the boonies were taken. Plus, out in the boonies you've got dozens of day laborers just milling around trying to get...
  10. R1T Gen 1 Quad Large vs. Gen 2 Dual Max Pack: Efficiency and Charging Analysis

I know you can't officially conclude this because you don't have a Gen2 Large.... but would you say that your conclusions regarding similar efficiency between Gen1 Large vs Gen2 Max strongly imply that Gen1 Large will have a similar efficiency to a Gen2 Large and therefore the Gen1 Large will...
  11. Scheduled Charging

Just got my Gen1 R1S. Is there a way to set a different schedule for weekdays vs. weekends? It seems like the choices in the app are "weekdays" or "daily". I assume that daily will follow the same schedule all 7 days of the week, whereas weekdays will follow the schedule on weekdays but will...
  12. Upcoming Gen 2 R1S incentives? Order now or wait it out?

Who knows what's really going on, but perhaps they just don't have as much inventory as they've had in previous quarters due to the supply chain problems, and they think that the possibility of the $7500 tax credit going away next year is enough incentive to sell their limited inventory.
  13. V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) - has anyone tried it?

V2H/V2G systems need a powerful inverter to convert from the DC battery in the car to ~240V AC needed in the home. That inverter is not going to be in the car. The car has to output DC and the inverter placed in the garage/home will have to convert it to AC. A logical choice for this is to...
  14. Demo Rivians Now for Sale

Is it really even possible for a Rivian to sit at a high state of charge for a long time? Vampire drain alone will get it down to levels that most consider safe for long term storage in a matter of a few days. I suppose if it was plugged in and set to 100% charge then it would be possible, but...
  15. Tesla owner considering R1S

Did you provide the materials yourself? 18 feet of 6/3 romex is at least $75 itself.
  16. R1S Lease Terms

This is highly state dependent though. Texas is the classic example of needing to pay the sales tax on the full price of the car at the time of lease. There may be others as well, so make sure you verify your state's tax rules before you pursue any leasing strategy.
  17. 12Kw generator

It's too bad you can't drive while something is connected to the charge port.
  18. R1T vs Cybertruck Tug-o-War

Seems like that would be VERY entertaining.
  19. Tesla owner considering R1S

That price seems unfathomably low. Even if the 14-50 is right next to the panel, you'll still need a few feet of cable, a 50A GFCI breaker, some cable clamps, a box and cover plate, and a quality 14-50 receptacle. I don't think you can even get all of those things for $160 themselves, let...
