  1. Initial charging experience and Vampire drain

Right I heard that too. Even shipping mode, apparently doesn’t do much for it but I might try that this weekend.
  2. 330 miles...on Christmas morning...NJ to Western NY...in single-digit temps?

Fantastic. I saved that little chart to an iPhone note and will get some adaptors to tote around.
  3. Initial charging experience and Vampire drain

wow. I really don't get it. I don't understand why rivian can't do whatever other EV makers do re: Vampire drain.
  4. Don't buy this charger handle cover

FYI. Thought this might make sense for overnight charging in bad weather. It doesn't adhere to the truck at all with the built in magnets. Returning it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09J8FC21D?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
  5. 330 miles...on Christmas morning...NJ to Western NY...in single-digit temps?

that's great to hear. you just used the standard rivian portable charger, no extension cord etc? Per the earlier post in this thread, did you set the Amp level on the truck?
  6. 330 miles...on Christmas morning...NJ to Western NY...in single-digit temps?

Ha although funny enough, and this is some good luck if available, I'll probably go to the gym a couple of times while I'm there and there happens to be a Tesla destination charger very close to the gym. I do have an adapter so that's great news.
  7. 330 miles...on Christmas morning...NJ to Western NY...in single-digit temps?

that's great info @RivianDeac of course now I wish I got the 6. I don't think I'm going to need it this weekend, maybe I will cancel and search for a 6 awg. Do you have any links to share on the adapters you got? Finally, last question for you or anyone else who may know...when pulling from a...
  8. 330 miles...on Christmas morning...NJ to Western NY...in single-digit temps?

as some others have said, wonder if putting in shipping mode would help. also, had no idea it ever got that cold in whistler!
  9. 330 miles...on Christmas morning...NJ to Western NY...in single-digit temps?

They say don’t use an extension cord. But I believe what our forum friends are saying is a 10 Awg extension cord is fine.
  10. 330 miles...on Christmas morning...NJ to Western NY...in single-digit temps?

I ended up buying a 10 awg cord. Would that work with an adapter for a typical dryer plug? My dryer plug at home is actually just a 120v. I’m getting the info for my in-laws but today.
  11. TPMS reset method?

Mine just popped on tonight. This is after I got snow tires put on yesterday. Will check all 4 inflation tomorrow am. I'm surprised the indicator doesn't say WHICH tire is under inflated. That seems like a reasonable ask.
  12. 330 miles...on Christmas morning...NJ to Western NY...in single-digit temps?

Some great thoughts. I'm probably going to do it and will just leave very early to be able to make it with a couple of charging stops. After I get there, my wife said there is an outdoor 120v outlet at the house that might be able to reach without an extension cord which should keep me flat in...
  13. 330 miles...on Christmas morning...NJ to Western NY...in single-digit temps?

@Tahoe Man is probably right. What is also a factor is sitting in the cold car during charging since a lot of things will be closed on Christmas. Hell, even walking into the Walmart from the charger wouldn't be fun. Prob not the time to be a hero. this guy on another thread had some good points...
  14. 330 miles...on Christmas morning...NJ to Western NY...in single-digit temps?

So is that true? I thought once you get going in the cold temps, it doesn't affect it much beyond what you do with HVAC. That sounds like it would be a pretty big range hit. If that's the case, that sounds like it wouldn't be worth it.
  15. 330 miles...on Christmas morning...NJ to Western NY...in single-digit temps?

well, keep in mind I will be by myself. so it's really sleep time as I'd likely just get up an hour earlier. and then when I get there, yes it's family time, but more accurately it's "in-law family time". So there's that.
  16. 330 miles...on Christmas morning...NJ to Western NY...in single-digit temps?

325 each way. I would def have to charge similarly on the way back but can arrive back home with minimal range, so that's good.
  17. 330 miles...on Christmas morning...NJ to Western NY...in single-digit temps?

Christmas morning, which is Sunday. So should be a bit better by then. But it will def be frigid.
