The Ram 1500 REV should be available second half of this year. It has been making rounds at car shows. Has the 3.5L V6 Pentastar that acts as a generator. It gets 20mpg when operating in hybrid mode.
690 mile total range
145 mile electric range

Nothing revolutionary, but good to finally see a legacy automaker finally figuring it out(giga casting, zonal architecture).
The revolutionary part could be pricing. They seem to laser focused on affordability. This platform will underpin many more variants beside a mid-size truck.
Because the way they were produced Ford lost money on every single unit. Jim Farely knew if they every wanted to make actual profits on EVs, they would have to adopt Tesla or BYD way of production.
The Ford video said they are using LFP prismatic cells. Which is currently cheapest and most widely available solution to keep costs down. The goal seems like an EV Maverick that rivals or beats ICE pricing.
Watched the video. Honestly seems like legacy auto's first true EV program. Giga-casting, zonal architecture, lfp cells, etc. Primary focus is efficiency and cost.
As said above this sounds very promising.
It has been going already for about 6months and will continue past "near future". AI companies have supplier deals done for next 12-36months. SK Hynix, Samsung, Micron are taking production from consumer products and redistributing it to enterprise(AI/Data).
For around town being able to L2 charge at home is a game change. More talking about the major highways in US that run E/W and N/S. They are primarily people putting in the miles. Especially during holidays, when roads are packed with travelers. EV chargers can already be full with lines...
I am just glad some brands are pushing battery tech and higher voltage architecture. It does need to be done.
When I am charging at a Buc-cees on roadtrips and look over to see 120+ fuel pumps all being used. It is chaos, imagine that amount of people trying to charge for 30min. I think to...
Funny thing he is a bit of a Rivian fanboy. He isn't the only one that was hoping to see some advancements in battery tech and/or higher voltage architecture. I just don't think Rivian is in the position to do it, they played it safe. I believe their target was to be near Tesla...
BMW has said both the iX3 40 sdrive and xdrive will start under $55k. 40 sdrive being entry level, should be closer to $50k msrp. Plus BMW's always lease well. I bet similar trim levels to R2, the iX3 leases better even if price is higher with options.
Lower trim iX3 are coming Q1 2027. The iX3 has been a hit in Europe. Demand is exceeding production with just one trim available. They are adding a second shift to Debrecen plant in Hungary. That factory can build up to 150,000 units per year. The plant in Mexico starts iX3 production in...
I agree, I enjoy roadtripping EVs. I find it entertaining. Planning the route, the charging stops. What charge I should be arriving at. How long do I need to charge to get to the next stop to charge in meat of the charging curve. My wife thinks I am nuts. I will admit, I would be just as...
Probably a good way to look at. Features added onto base model and their upcharge.
$45k R2 RWD Standard
Launch Ed:
Dual Motor $3k
Large Battery Pack $4k
Performance pack $4k
Premium Interior $2.5k
Premium Audio $1k
$59.5k
I do an 800mile trip(1600mile roundtrip) regularly multiple times a year(the wifey hates taking the EV). No overnight stops, drive straight through. Google maps says it is 12hrs with an ICE vehicle. ABRP has the iX3 in their app. It says the iX3 would take over an hour less, than my R1T...
There are supposedly two performance oriented iX3 models coming. The iX3 M60 xdrive(dual-motor) with 600+hp. A full blown M version...iX3 M. No leaked specs on the latter. But rumors are drivetrain from upcoming iM3...so quad motor.
