Jeez, lower your expectations. We have a friend in management at Rivian and they can't do squat to move us up the totem pole (we did try), so don't expect the guide to have any juice.
You're missing the point. Check out this site which links to 46 different dealers that specialize in replacement batteries for the Leaf. (click through a couple and you'll see the numerous options that exist for Leaf owners).

Nissan has sold 500,000...
My main takeaway after wandering the plant for a couple of hours was how impressive this undertaking really was. Going from no cars to round-the-clock manufacturing in about 18 months. They should hit the 25,000 vehicle target by year-end. I know people are pissed at the delays but seeing what...
Mmmm, I'm not a betting man but I'll go out on a limb and say if there's a market, the market will figure it out. If there are 10,000+ vehicles in need of replacements in 12 years (and every year thereafter), someone will have a solution. And if Rivian goes to solid state or whatever the...
I was hoping that they would have a build-your-own option for reservation holders but I walked away disappointed. There were lots of completed vehicles and probably hundreds of Amazon vans, but the vans are transported to their destination 2 at a time so there's a huge backlog.
We had a 2005 Prius that had a battery failure after 12 years (well out of warranty). In 2005 the dealer told us it would cost about $8,000 to replace it should we ever need to. The 2017 dealer price was $3,500 and I ended up purchasing an aftermarket battery for $1,500. We gave the car away and...
We were there too. Judging from the sheer volume of parts in the various areas they should have no problem hitting their goal for 2022. I was hoping to see my R1S coming off a line but will still have to wait a month or two.
We were reset to 1st half of 2023 a while back but were just contacted by our Guide to finalize our configuration for a 10/16 updated notification of delivery. Could still be 2023 but it seems like we're gonna get it sooner.
My link above identifies utilities that have adopted this technology and can install these collars. Not a huge list but shows that it's not an impossibility.
Absolutely ridiculous. In case you haven't noticed Rivian, Tesla and the other companies similarly want to commoditize features and updates. They aren't building moats to protect buyers, they're doing it to keep buyers contained in their own for-pay environments. There are no benevolent entities...
I could see using it as a hipster weekender vehicle and everyday commuter. Trips to garden center, weekend trips to Wisconsin/Michigan (I'm in Chicago). My wife prefers an SUV driving position and a smaller size makes it more versatile.
They're trying to become profitable. The chargers come with a cost (which also includes regular maintenance) and it's an immense undertaking to create a network. So the cost may be high but it's not like they're blowing it on hookers and coke.
