  1. Keeping my Rivian outside?

Sorry for the delayed response. Busy weekend! For me, I think there are some factors that will make these EVs age better than most cars: noticeably the start of OTA updates. Shoot, I think Tesla has even let you upgrade some of the tech related stuff (processors, etc) after purchase to keep...
  2. cost of electric vs gas?

My power runs ~13-14 cents per kWh. On my ID.4 that comes out to around 4 cents of power per mile driven. Rivian’s will cost about 6 cents per mile driven. For comparison my Subaru costs me about 17 cents per mile for gas. Then add in other increases maintenance costs (like oil changes)...
  3. Keeping my Rivian outside?

I just got rid of a car I had for 19 years. I have a 9 year old car and a 6 month old car. I am only considering getting rid of the 9 year old car because 1. I want to go all electric and 2. Rivian is just too damn cool. I expect to have cars 10+ years as well.
  4. Portland Area Meet-up April 8th

Thanks to everyone for coming out this afternoon and special thanks to Bruce for organizing and all of those who brought their trucks for us to see. I had a great time.
  5. Portland Area Meet-up April 8th

I will probably get there around 4:30. You will find me because I will be the tall guy in the orange coat drooling over Bruce’s truck.
  6. Rivian R1T vs GMC Hummer EV Comparison Test Review by Motor Trend

As mentioned above by @CommodoreAmiga , the numbers aren't that simple, however, if you look at efficiency I think your conclusion is accurate. At highway speeds Out of Spec saw 2.2 or 2.3 mi / kWh for the R1T. The EPA estimated range divided by the usable portion of the battery pack for the...
  7. Rivian R1T vs GMC Hummer EV Comparison Test Review by Motor Trend

I'll bite on this repeated debate :) I think Tesla and Rivian's argument here is a bad one. For some things it is totally fine. I don't need a dedicated button to adjust my mirrors or my steering wheel position. Do that once per driver and save the profile. Totally makes sense. However...
  8. Many of you are mistaking how to think about the order queue...

A few things: - I think conversion rates on pre 3/1 orders will be higher than that because of the ability to flip them. All of those orders are roughly 15k below MSRP. Even with taxes and such, there is money to be made. -R1S will start delivering soon, during the back half of the year (after...
  9. Oregon Vehicle Use Tax

You say that until you see all of our other taxes……
  10. Would switching from R1T Adventure to R1S Adventure delay my delivery?

I have a 9/21 R1S preorder, in a city already receiving a number of deliveries. My estimated date I was given was 1st half 2023. I am expecting August :) R1S is behind the R1T in terms of deliveries today, but no clue how that will hold up over time. It is possible the bay area, where you...
  11. 216 kw charging achieved at EA station after OTA update

It makes a ton of sense to me. It is great to test in a low stakes / low risk situation. If there are bugs, you don't hurt paying customers. If you have to pull back a feature and not release it due to problems, no one is disappointed. This is a good way to manage software roll outs, and...
  12. Portland Area Meet-up April 8th

Weird I don't see this in my account, but I am still a year away from delivery, so that is likely why
  13. Charging Networks to Join? - Advice Sought

Ahh yes, I did forget the 80% sustained rate. Thanks for that. I edited and updated the original post. And I totally agree, fast charging is needed on many road trips and to a variety of remote areas. And in some use cases, EV's are a total pain (long range towing and real remote...
  14. Charging Networks to Join? - Advice Sought

Places with a garage often have a washer/dryer outlet in them that is usable. However, even 120v outlets are enough if you are going to be there for a while without driving too much at your destination. A standard 120v / 15 amp outlet pushes out 1.8kW per hour. At a 80% sustained rate that is...
  15. Charging Networks to Join? - Advice Sought

I’ve taken plenty. Just been renting Airbnb’s and charging at my destination. Lots of places worth driving to within range of Portland :)
  16. Charging Networks to Join? - Advice Sought

For most people once you can charge at home you very rarely need to fast charge. My ID.4 came with free electrify America. In ~6 months of ownership I haven’t even used it. And it is free. You will learn the joy of waking up with a full tank daily and only think about this the few times a year...
  17. Features Request List After 1-Week With Rivian R1T

Man it is awesome that you might actually get to talk to RJ about this. Since that might happen, one other thing to add to the list: improved navigation. From the reviews I have seen the POI db is lacking, in many areas the maps are way more out of date than google / apple etc, and I don't...
  18. First R1T on Cars & Bids...No Reserve

Man, the pictures are awesome. I need someone to take a FG / FE R1S to that photographer so I can see if I actually like my configuration. Why can't Rivian post pictures of their own vehicles that are this good?
  19. The most annoying thing about my R1T so far

The other option (at least on iOS) is to disable bluetooth just for the Rivian App (I am assuming that app is what acts as PAAK). No need to disable bluetooth completely, just for the single app. To do this you go to Settings -> Privacy -> Bluetooth and enable / disable specific apps
  20. Video of 21" wheels with aero covers removed

I think you have to take it off to take out the aero inserts on the 21s. I haven’t seen a picture with the center cap without the aero inserts on the 21s yet.
