Oregon Vehicle Use Tax

For those of you in Oregon there is a use tax that has to be paid when you get your R1T/S delivered

Scroll down to the Register box. Click on vehicle and bicycle tax


Next click purchasers under vehicle and then click individual.

Next click IL for place of sale.

It will ask you for the cost of the truck. Then it will ask any add on with the purchase like all weather mats, field kits, etc. Then any rebates (none for me). From there it was calculate the tax. It came out to be $340ish dollars for me. I paid by checking account to avoid a $9 credit card service fee.

Understand, Oregon is not used to sales tax because they don’t have one. So paying a tax is not normal and people question it. I live right on the border in Washington.

Agreed. No traditional sales tax even on big items like cars. We do have income, property, gas, etc taxes.

The other thing that's interesting in Oregon is if revenues exceed forecasts instead of going into a "rainy day fund" once they pass a certain threshold they need to be returned to taxpayers via a biannual "kicker" - this year's was pretty nice.
