  1. Tesla opens up their EV connector design to the world (North American Standard)

Yesterday was the death of CCS. I bet every manufacturer had emergency meetings late Friday to discuss this. Think about it... CCS ports are huge - design limitations due to their size. Manufacturers have more flexibility with NACS CCS cables are heavy and more expensive to manufacture -...
  2. Tesla opens up their EV connector design to the world (North American Standard)

Any NACS equipped vehicle can charge on the supercharger network. I cried tears of joy. There are no subsidies for operating or maintaining a charger. The IRA is well intentioned, but falls short, because they don't have anything in it to ensure the chargers are reliable and operating. The...
  3. Tesla opens up their EV connector design to the world (North American Standard)

As long as the vehicle has NACS, it is good to go on the Supercharger network. I am so excited by this. This is huge for us. Like...I'm going to be able to use this truck more than my Tesla...for once. When I heard the news, I literally started to tear up and cry. I was so frustrated - $80k...
  4. Tesla opens up their EV connector design to the world (North American Standard)

What do you think is meant by this statement? Similarly, we look forward to future electric vehicles incorporating the NACS design and charging at Tesla’s North American Supercharging and Destination Charging networks.
  5. Tesla opens up their EV connector design to the world (North American Standard)

It's worth repeating this text from the Tesla announcement; Similarly, we look forward to future electric vehicles incorporating the NACS design and charging at Tesla’s North American Supercharging and Destination Charging networks. This is huge. I want a Tesla connector on my R1T, asap...
  6. Tesla opens up their EV connector design to the world (North American Standard)

100% agree. Can't wait to retrofit my R1T 100% agree This is Tesla opening up the network. Read the article - Tesla welcomes other brands at the Supercharger network. This is massive news.
  7. The state of the CCS charging network in USA is disappointing

Looks like I got my wish. Does anyone know what would be involved in replacing the CCS port with the NACS port? Will we have to wait for third parties to manufacture conversion kits? The way I read Tesla's NACS announcement; soon as I slap a NACS port on my R1T, I can go charge at any...
  8. The state of the CCS charging network in USA is disappointing

EA Lansing station is down to a single, inconsistent, station. New stations cannot come fast enough.
  9. The state of the CCS charging network in USA is disappointing

Charger in Houghton has been WIP for months with no progress. Even when it's open, user on Plugshare posted pictures of the parking deck weight limit - Won't be able to charge there unless I bring the Tesla. The Odawa casino before Mackinaw is unreliable, expensive, and slow. You are spot on...
  10. The state of the CCS charging network in USA is disappointing

Denver is full of transplants from the coasts, thus the high cost of living, wealth, and coastal perspectives. The problem is the Midwest and the great plains. These areas don't have DCFC infrastructure equivalent to other areas of the country. Not uncommon to see more Tesla Supercharger...
  11. The state of the CCS charging network in USA is disappointing

How would you do a trip to Munising and Houghton? I am very familiar with the EA Cadillac station and the Blink network in TC.
  12. The state of the CCS charging network in USA is disappointing

For us, there is no other option. Lot of people bring a coastal perspective to this forum. It isn't bad, but people live in more places than Seattle, LA, Denver and NYC. The charging experience outside of these very wealthy areas sucks.
  13. The state of the CCS charging network in USA is disappointing

Bingo. No offense to some. But they still have their rose colored glasses on. Fast chargers are not rolling out fast around us. We're watching locations take years around here. As I research it more, every fast charger appears to lose money on every transaction. Unless you run a charity and...
  14. The state of the CCS charging network in USA is disappointing

That is a genius idea. I have had this thought before. The dealership lots have lights on 24x7, and during business hours - restrooms. It makes perfect sense. It isn’t perfect, but it is dual purpose, right? The dealership uses it for new vehicles, repairs and drivers get to use it as well.
  15. The state of the CCS charging network in USA is disappointing

Completely agree. Anyone whose done more than just driving around town knows what we're talking about. The honeymoon period wears off quick.
  16. The state of the CCS charging network in USA is disappointing

Exactly. Even in a Tesla, there are places in northern parts of the US where I have to be creative with my routes - do some “hub and spoke” style travel, where I frequently have to plan a stop around the single Supercharger site. These same routes on any CCS vehicle are basically impossible for...
  17. The state of the CCS charging network in USA is disappointing

That is a good point. A grocery chain in the southeast was one of the first to bring up the consequences of utilities getting in the EV charging business. The problem with utilities competing against everyone else is the fact that the utility doesn’t have to negotiate with anyone but itself. The...
  18. The state of the CCS charging network in USA is disappointing

I could have overlooked it; but how will the IRA reduce the cost of demand charges imposed by utilities? My understanding is that in almost all scenarios (when reviewing different utility providers, different times of use during the day, etc); DCFC are not profitable to operate. Examples like...
  19. Tesla releases J1772 Wall Connector Home Charger (For Non-Teslas)

This is way cheaper then my JuiceBox. I wish they would have had this out sooner. When I ordered my JuiceBox, it was backordered for 6 weeks! Why is Tesla just constantly trying to rub it in our faces?
  20. The state of the CCS charging network in USA is disappointing

Is anyone else massively disappointed at the glacial pace of DCFC rollouts across the USA? It is frustration after frustration out there. If the glacial pace of installations or the reliability of existing locations isn’t depressing enough; I am seeing two, new, worrying trends…. Locations...
