As a result of what you mention, I don’t think we will see many existing locations get retrofitted.
Superchargers are already busy, and there are already arguments over people cutting in line. Given the state of the CCS network, and people’s behavior - there will be plenty of bold and gutsy...
it does make Rivian look like the odd one in the bunch.
This announcement was expected this week, but the specifics of how it will be implemented were unknown. I speculated that the quickest way to expand access to all EV would be the US government pledging financial support for superchargers...
It is alarming how overly optimistic people are with respect to Tesla opening up the Supercharger network. They are counting their chickens before their eggs are hatched. The Supercharger network being made open is problem after problem to be solved for. There is no timetable that has widespread...
you made me wonder how many other off-road vehicles are equipped with air suspension?
While comfortable , these systems haven’t ever been notoriously reliable even on Lincoln mallcruisers. And they’ve always been pretty expensive to service. We should really keep a close eye on the air...
Bingo. Rivian supposedly loses between 100-160k per vehicle. Charging networks do not break even, and even operate at a loss - every transaction is more money lost.
IMO, Rivian isn’t scaling production or the RAN network anytime soon. Not until their manufacturing cost structure is reduced...
People who visit family in colder states, and travel normal distances like 70-110 miles one way. It isn’t a road trip, but it isn’t a short trip. Add some cold weather, leaving with the truck not warmed up or the battery at 91%.
It isn’t a big deal in an ICE car, and you really don’t want it to...
I see this quite a bit. Unless a legacy manufacturer has a big issue like GM did with the Bolt, they kinda brush it off. But if a EV brand has an issue with funding or defect, it is front page news.
The ID4 doesn’t come with AWD until the $48k model, which makes it more expensive than the Model Y. There is no RWD Model Y. Won’t even bother talking about lack of software updates or CCS network since we know the drill.
I am surprised to learn Ford loses money on every Mach-E, and GM loses...
Yesterday was a momentous day. There is not a single EV forum that doesn’t have a 10 or even 20 page thread about this topic. This shook the EV industry, no doubt about it.
Short term - this is, as someone else called it, a death punch to the nuts of brands like Ford, GM, Kia, Volkswagen...
MY LR 7 seat, 20” Inductions and PUP upgrade. 0-60 will be 3.7s. Only thing missing is the Brembo brakes
The Model Y classifies as both an SUV or sedan in the IRA., depending on how it is optioned out.
Same.
Had it at the grocery store and another trip when we got home - but on a rear passenger door.
I thought it wassomething my kids were doing. Glad to know it’s a Rivian issue tho. I’ll call
My service center and wait (hopefully not 6 months)
Every auto company has to. China has their own plug. Europe calls their plug a CCS plug, but it isn't the same as the North American CCS plug.
Tesla currently manufactures all 4 vehicles with 3 different connectors, depending on geo.
Rivian, GM and everyone else has to, if they want to sell...
I have more faith in getting access to the Supercharger network, than I do the CCS network ever holding a candle to the supercharger network.
Keep hope alive!
Only fantasy is the thought of the CCS network being sufficient, or reliable ;) lol.
Quit trying to ruin the fun.
I want access to the Supercharger network, and I want it nowweweeewewwwww.
Just checked the Tesla Owners Club group for our state. They already celebrate the opening of new Superchargers with champagne - real champagne (not cava); now they are discussing re-celebrating when the first retrofits/new vehicles are able to visit the Superchargers.
It's pretty sweet. They...
