Gawd, there is ZERO practical difference between a 3.4 and 2.7 second 0-60 time. Both are absurdly fast for that type of vehicle. Does the video actually do a decent job at comparing the third row seats at least?
Nope, you aren't crazy. I own both a Tesla Model X and a Rivian R1S. Yes indeed, this forum reminds me of the early days of Tesla complete with buggy software, occasional manufacturing issues, and a company that is trying to grow up quickly.
The R1S is a worthy competitor to the Model X. Much...
I very much doubt it can charge on three phase. First, you don’t even have the right number of pins in the charge port. There is no way to get the other two phases into the charging circuit board.
Your best bet is to hook up your EVSE to a high amperage single phase circuit.
This is my plan Z if all else fails. You absolutely get a huge boost in mileage doing this both because of the drafting and because you’re usually only driving 60-65 mph like that. So, nice option to have if you’re in the middle of a charging desert and are stretching to reach your destination!
Are Rivians compatible with any third party fast charging network's Plug & Charge (EVGo, EA, etc)? If not, any indications when and if this will happen?
The Rivian Wall Charger is wifi enabled. You can turn on charging remotely if you want (assuming it is plugged in, of course). But the wall charger itself doesn't have the ability to start charging at pre-programmed times. The Rivian does have that capability in the car user interface, so if you...
That was close, you almost got pitched into the Valley of Death!
(Monty Python And The Holy Grail reference for those who didn't get my original joke question).
Right, because everyone can hear a single drop of rain ;)
At any rate, a choice of sounds would be appreciated and/or a loudness volume for the turn signal and other inside warnings.
People who don’t mind the pedestrian warning sound probably have never been in their house garage when someone else drives off. We used to have an Infiniti QX80 and that sounded like a huge machine starting up when turned on. The Rivian is better, but not by much. Tesla managed to find a sound...
Three in particular:
The govt mandated low speed sounds that sounds like an overheated fan/blower? Other EV manufacturers found sounds that weren't objectionable, I have no idea what Rivian was trying to do with their sound.
When the car locks, it chirps, but it does so at the same time as the...
This all sounds great, but most people would not like the complexity of the arrangement. There are a lot of things that could go wrong, and diagnosing such a custom set up won't be easy.
In general, I shy away from complex interconnections of different systems purely due to the nightmare...
Based on Rivian comments, current production models won't get this. Maybe it'll be a running change at some future date, but don't assume current models will get it.
Also, even the king of bi-directional charging, the F150 Lightning, isn't a whole home solution. Whole home generators are...
That isn't unusual - it almost is mouthwash. They add methanol (a type of alcohol which I believe is also in mouthwash) to the water and detergents so that it won't freeze.
Either will work fine. In the end, both are just extension cords, so the effect and theory of operation is the same. The J1772 extension cord would normally be used if you need to charge from a public charger that has too short a cable for your car, or is ICEd or whatever.
Ugh, the annoying thing in my mind is that any halfway competent programmer would have discovered this bug on their own when they tested their own code. Failing that, the bug should have been caught in QA. And failing all of that, the manual tech writer should have been trying to use the system...
Anyone got their rear window wiper fluid spraying in their R1S? I press the rear window fluid button on the stalk, keeping it held down and I hear a whine from the front area, which presumably is the wiper fluid pump, but no fluid comes out the back. Front wiper fluid comes out fine.
