Glad you were able to get it fixed, bummer that it ruined a vacation. Have been following this thread and figured it was a 12V battery since it seemed like one half of the car was non functioning. Really wonder why Rivian chose to go with 2x 12V battery with essentially a right and left brain...
There was another similar thread on this with the Lectron adapter. I think the general idea is if you're using an extension cord or an adapter of any sort is to lower the amperage. Annoying but it's an additional safety measure to ensure things don't melt/short out while charging.
I'm on a portable Tesla charger with the Lectron adapter. Ironically, I'm limited to 32A and it does charge the R1T rather slowly overnight but I've never noticed a heating issue
Recent delivery here. It seems like a significant amount of improvements were made from the 2022 and 2023 years.
But I'll take the opposite view. I absolutely love the motor whine from the Bosch motors. It's there when you step on it but very subtle when tooling around town.

As a car guy, I own an R1T, GT4, 3rd gen 4Runner and a 1st gen JDM CRV. All incredibly different and all great in their own settings but this is very much an apples to oranges conversation.
Agreed. I always thought it was funny that Rivian announced and then backtracked on the Benz EDV partnership relatively quickly.
I'm not sure the R1s would do well in Europe because of space constraints but the EDVs would be a huge hit.
So, Branden Flasch did an interesting video on the thermal capacities with DCFC charging but ultimately, it seems like Rivian has the cooling programmed to flick on only when the pack hits 50 degrees Celsius and charging is rate limited to a certain degree around that temperature. Rivian has...
