  1. SiriusXM

Not being able to change stations with the buttons on the steering wheel is a big miss. Hopefully they add that in a future software update.
  2. SiriusXM

Interesting. I'll be curious to see what the Corporate Solutions Team comes up with!
  3. SiriusXM

Technically, you may be right. That being said, SiriusXM's CEO earlier this month, at a conference in NYC, said that the company is pivoting away from general streaming, because it hasn't been as successful as the company would like, and back to its core competency, which is that of an in-car...
  4. SiriusXM

Regarding the various posts I've seen about being surprised that we'll have to pay a monthly subscription to SiriusXM after a free trial ends...really? Yeah, SiriusXM pretends to be a steamer, but its fundamental business model has always been to provide its satellite radio service to vehicles...
  5. Update this week! Christmas treat, Youtube, Google Cast, Sirius XM, Pandora, Enhanced Lane Change, Scheduled Drive, Gen 2 KeyFob enhancement & fixes!

I've GOT to stop obsessively checking my phone to see if the update has been pushed to me yet - only way I'll actually be able to get some work done! This is one of the more exciting updates in awhile. I've always enjoyed listening to SiriusXM in my cars, so I'm looking forward to getting that...
  6. New Rivian Assistant launching with next mobile app update - per Wassym

Slightly off topic, but my wife and were camping a few summers ago with another couple; if I recall they were driving a Toyota Highlander they’d owned for a few years. We’re getting ready to drive home, and their car wouldnā€˜t start, and they were getting all sorts of error messages on their dash...
  7. Porpoising R1S Gen 2

I'm 3 weeks into Gen 2 R1S ownership after 14 months of Gen 1 R1S ownership, and at least for me, porpoising has been significantly reduced, but perhaps not entirely eliminated. What I'm careful to distinguish between is true porpoising - a front to back, back to front bouncing motion - versus...
  8. Out of Spec 10% Challenge of Gen2 R1T dual Max: Massively Negative!

It didn’t. I updated to 2024.43.30 the night before we left on this road trip, and I very much had these range estimate issues on the drive to L.A. but on the bright side, I’ve been wanting the ability to assign my wife’s and my Spotify accounts to our individual driver profiles for 14...
  9. Out of Spec 10% Challenge of Gen2 R1T dual Max: Massively Negative!

I’m 11 days into ownership of a Gen 2 dual max R1S after 14 months of a Gen 1 quad large R1S. Yesterday was my first road trip in the new Gen 2, traveling with my two sons from our home in Marin County (northern SF Bay Area) down to Universal Studios in Hollywood. The ride quality is so much...
  10. How many different RAN Stations have you visited?

I've been to seven: 1) Corte Madera, CA: numerous times, sometimes busy, sometimes not; 2) Ukiah, CA - once, and I was the only one there; 3) Mt. Shasta, CA - twice, busy both times; 4) Roseburg, OR - twice, of which one time I had to wait a few minutes and the other time I was the only one...
  11. Hyundai IONIQ 9 - Global Premiere

It will be a compelling SUV for many. But as is the case with its sister SUV, the Kia EV9, range would be an issue for me. I suspect AWD its range will be less than 300 miles (as is the case with the EV9). A RWD option will give you 335 miles. I learned some interesting things about range for...
  12. I paid the R1S early adopter tax...and am now the owner of a new Gen 2 R1S Dual Max

Much better, although the R1S is still built on a truck platform. You're still going to feel the imperfections, but they're not nearly as jarring as they are on the Gen 1s. The improved suspension probably is the primary selling point of the Gen 2 for Gen 1 owners, and the improvement is real.
  13. I paid the R1S early adopter tax...and am now the owner of a new Gen 2 R1S Dual Max

We configured our 2023 QM R1S last June or July (a few weeks before the Enduro DMs first became available), taking delivery right after Labor Day in 2023. My wife and I love Rivian and are doing everything we can to support the company, but it's been tough at times. Driving home from delivery...
  14. RAN Price Increase?

Looks like I really got in in the nick of time. I charged at the Corte Madera RAN Sunday night the 17th at $0.36.
  15. Lucid Gravity Opens Order Books Today $94,900 - Anyone Reserving?

My brother works for Lucid. As a nice fringe benefit, he's been driving a company-owned car, a Lucid Air, for a while now. He's really excited about the Lucid Gravity. I hope it does well, for his sake and for the EV industry as a whole.
  16. The Elephant in the Room [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICAL DISCUSSION]

Much of today's movement in the stock market - be it the broader upturn or specific downturns - I think are initial reactionary results to the election. I think the market will "settle" over the next couple of weeks. That being said, I placed an order for a Gen 2 R1S with the loyalty discount...
  17. What the heck is going on with the stock price?!

There is one thing that is driving the stock price down today: Trump. He is not EV-friendly (putting aside his weird relationship with Musk).
  18. Interesting building going up near JoshuaTree National Park

The Rivian Charging Outpost in Groveland near Yosemite is awesome. I used it twice this summer. After plugging your vehicle, you walk inside to a nice air conditioned room, relax on a nice plush couch, maybe get some snacks and a cup of coffee, look at the extensive schwag that they have for...
  19. Question regarding placing an order with the Rivian Loyalty discount

Hi. My wife and I have decided to trade in our 2023 Gen 1 R1S for a 2025 Gen 2 R1S (predominately for the new suspension - depreciation and early adopter tax be damned!). According to the online build configurator, I still have time to place an order for a year end delivery to get the $3,500...
  20. VW Group JV with Rivian Update

I just took a look at a Schedule 13G that Rivian filed with the SEC on October 1st. Per that filing, Rivian and VW entered into a Senior Convertible Promissory Note on June 26th. The Note will convert to 83 million shares of Rivan common stock, for a 7.7% ownership position, on the later of...
