The current situation reminds me of New Coke. They are not that smart and they are not that dumb.
Still early, but its not a conspiracy. Raising prices has been a constant backburner topic that even people on this forum would mention but no one wanted to explore. The execution of the price...
Its hard to take back what they did. "Did and recover" and "should have done" are very different things. At this point we don't even know if they feel like they made a mistake. We all feel wronged but they could have been expecting this blowback. I mean they extended CS hours till midnight...
While all things are accurate, you have to still take it with skepticism that she was the one and only one to have these concerns. She has been able to present her side Rivian can't yet.
Not saying its not true or that I like what's happening just that proving that she was the lone voice...
Its quite a number and seeing other posts of confirmed cancels backs up some of the sentiment.
Its quite a journey as someone that has followed Rivian since the LA Auto Show.
-Wow that's nice but no price announced and $1k reservation is steep. Figured a price north of 100k or something less...
State a price. Confirm order details. Delay. Delay. Delay. Increase price 20%. Offer no guarantees there won't be more delays or further price increases.
Based on what we've seen from reviewers, other early returns, what we know about design considerations, and how Rivian's employees talk about the product, I trust Rivian's engineering and commitment to quality.
At the same time, facing global supply chain issues and a pandemic (still!) I am...
No matter where it went, there would be some amount of local and vocal resistance. There's a lot of people excited but media and social networks highlights the disgruntled.
Some have good/valid reasons to be upset, some don't. Some concerns will be addressed, some won't. Sorry!
Thanks for doing these videos! +1 on this and I'd ask for a run through of Alexa commands (car control, navigation, media, etc.) and other voice interactions with the phone for calls/texts.
Rumor is Georgia for this one. Georgia also has a very large battery plant with SK already going.
Interesting is that the article mentioned vehicle production which might mean the Ft. Worth deal isn't a go...
What's funny to me here is that the more capital goes into Rivian the more likely it is to succeed in hitting its scale targets. That would not only justify the valuation, but totally blow it away. Once people start to realize that, guess what they do (invest in Rivian).
OK People, enough with Car Play/AA. Rivian made their decision a long time ago and isn't about to change it until they get it in lots of customers' hands so let's not relitigate all the things that are known already and not changing (at least for now)
This was more of a what's still unknown...
I am overwhelmed by content of other people enjoying the heck out of the R1T (sorry R1S'ers) + manuals + official reviews, etc. Only thing for me is to actually get the dang thing now. Outside of known gripes, I'm generally curious if there's anything left for people to wonder about.
This is sneaky nice if true. Lets you use the cooler easier as that is plenty of room for ice + beverages in most situations and you don't need 8 bags of ice to fill up the whole thing. Also can separate other items that don't need to be in ice if needed.
Or if gear only, it provides some...
Very cool, not jealous or anything :) Two questions -
Did you happen to ask about Conserve mode?
Did you happen to catch which media outlets were there and any timing on when they will be able to share?
Sliding doors have been around for sometime so to actually patent a new idea is interesting in itself. From what I see it appears they just did a gooseneck like sliding door. They made the door open wider without extending the sliding mechanism.
While it could be used in a van/minivan I think...
