Thanks!
Could you point out how texting/calls work via BT? The four giant use cases of the UI are mapping, music, charge/range, and communications. I don't think out of all the reviews I have seen the last one communications - calls, voicemails, send/receive text, voice to text, etc.
Thanks!
Thanks for the rundown and video! How does one receive and send texts via the infotainment system? I don't think I have ever seen that to date.
Also, are there any voice commands or voice to text?
Thanks again!
I thought about it, but a v1.0 car from a v1.0 company in a v1.1 vehicle space seemed bold enough. My sense is I will test it out, get used to EVs and if I really like it buy another in 2-3, ie next revision, and pass this one down the line in the family.
Honestly, I am hoping for a Rivian van...
Who knows, but they can certain afford to take a loss on launch editions. They are currently very well capitalized with many many financing options available in almost all forms.
Not sure what I would do, but I would not be pleased to have waited almost 3 years and a price change.
The tires are custom versions of existing tires, in the case of the 20":
PIRELLI SCORPION ALL TERRAIN: THE OFF-ROAD TIRE
Pirelli’s 275/65R20 off-road tire, the Scorpion All Terrain Plus, was also specifically developed for the R1T and R1S with electric adventure in mind.

Again, correct insight.
To say nothing of the inability for in-app user interface tracking, bugs, issues, etc. It makes it significantly more complex w/ no upside for Rivian. They want to start a new paradigm not follow an old one because people got used to it. That is in fact how companies...
lol...they are building for the next 10 years. No today. Today you get a V1.0. If you don't like V1.0 products that need to mature, IMO, you have zero business buying a Rivian.
As to building for the next 10 years, CarPlay is a detractor, a net negative, to accomplish that mission. Having...
I think, as suggested above, CarPlay is easily legacy SW in that timeframe for folks with cheap/old cars. We’ll see.
It negatively benefits Rivian and their mission to prioritize CarPlay over their integrated system.
And they are sold out so some consumer are interested in an integrated...
Of course you are correct.
I assume apple does not want to get in lower margin game (I assume lower?), and stick to (like Rivian should) software and hardware as tightly integrated as possible.
Competing with Rivian as their SW gets better and better would be very hard to compete with just...
I would ask. And if they felt strongly about it, the question would be how does prioritizing CarPlay for a vehicle with a proprietary integrated OS, many overlapping features that all need use/data, sold out for 2-3, help the company become better and a market leader in the next 5+ years.
I...
If I worked at Rivian, and heard these arguments for CarPlay on Launch Editions, sold out until who knows when, and one could not explain how CarPlay would help Rivian become a better company and market leader 5-7 years from now, I would ask that person to leave the meeting.
Again, you hit the nail on the head. A v1.0 car from a v1.0 company in a v1.1 category is not going to work for some people, probably most people. I would never recommend my mother jump in on a LE edition for lots of reasons. Nor would I recommend most projects use brand new technology stacks...
That's all well and good. They may choose to add it in the future, but if I was running the company I would agree with Elon and RJ (and Steve @ Apple as well most other successful tech companies). You launch with a limited set of functionality and build from there. Try to keep the ecosystem...
You mean like Spotify and Tune-In on launch?
Also, I did not drill down into the Apps menu item, curious if anyone has and what that menu option is...perhaps just individual App settings...
Anyway, this discussion is pointless. Loved the interface and hope it gets even better.
