So development costs to change from 400v to 800v are zero? Seems like a huge change that they obviously didn't plan from the beginning without an existing 800v platform to even go off of. Rivian obviously prioritized other items like autonomy too.

Maybe some portable radio can be connected via bluetooth? Maybe Rivian should make one available as an accessory?

I suspect the launch will get better from here. They're doing some data collection right now based on real data and how people are configuring final orders. Always a chance this new method doesn't work well, but they are at least trying to significantly improve the experience.

Any thoughts on road noise usually related to tires and wind noise? I'm guessing test drives are too short to really test this well.

At the block party, it wasn't clear how good the haptic wheels were. I wasn't necessarily amazed but just assumed it was because the car was static and maybe software not dialed in.

That makes sense. It basically doesn't get hot enough for shorter trips since none of those motors and HVAC in the frunk area run long enough.

That doesn't sound that bad then. Other person in Florida made it seem like there was potentially extra heat from other sources like the motors and HVAC. Might have more to do with their southern location than frunk?

I probably used my full hand when I tested this at a block party so didn't notice too much. I did make sure a shorter family member could reach and close properly though. IIRC, she closed too hard the first time.

Yes. You just close it lightly and then it pulls the hood down firmly and secures itself. I guess it's like those soft-close doors.

It's more extreme than that as this won't be an even monthly number due to the ramp up. Higher production rates are in the latter part of the year. Tail end of the year could be bumpy as those high production rates will require a lot of coordination and deliveries.

Was it black or a dark color? I think most people won't notice as they will be new to the brand and won't have an R1 to compare. Maybe some aftermarket option to retrofit a strap will be enough?

Just depends on your needs. Only reason we plan on keeping an ICE is so that whatever brand new EV we buy doesn't take a huge beating on the interior right away. Some of the messy and abusive errands might get dumped on our beater ICE car. Although it might not be worth the extra...
