  1. [Gen 1 R1S Quad Motor] vs [Gen 2 R1S Standard LFP]

says the same thing in the center display every time I plug in. I set it to 90% most of the time so I have regen braking, but it ignores that about once a week.
  2. [Gen 1 R1S Quad Motor] vs [Gen 2 R1S Standard LFP]

No they don’t. Mine says I should charge to 100% all the time, and it clears my charge limit every week or so and charges to 100% to calibrate.
  3. [Gen 1 R1S Quad Motor] vs [Gen 2 R1S Standard LFP]

I have some perspective here as a R1S Gen 2 Dual Standard owner whose truck went into the shop for a week and I got a launch edition R1S as a loaner. I’d buy the gen 2 again in a heartbeat. The improved suspension and Adaptive High Beams alone are worth it imo. The speed of the quad was...
  4. Ford moving to online purchasing

I bought a Mach-E and took a very long post-purchase survey a couple of weeks ago. A huge portion of it was dedicated to very focus group-ish questions about buying a vehicle online. “What excites you most about buying online? How much time would you expect to spend buying online?” etc. They...
  5. Delay Placeholder Vehicles

You won’t regret it! I got actual money for my 2012 Expedition that needed at least $4k of work done on it, and leased a Mach-E. I’ll either transfer it to my wife or swap it for the R1S when my turn comes. The Mach-E is the most fun I’ve had with a car in a long, long time.
  6. Well this sucks... (and a BIG conundrum).

I know it’s not a truck, but my Expedition needed like $4k of work and I was sick of it, so I leased a Mach-E and have zero regrets. ?
  7. Canadian delivery timeframe

This is true now, but I don’t see much of a reason it needs to remain a factor after this year. The first few dozen deliveries it makes perfect sense, but beyond that, they can’t keep waiting for service centers to come up, it’s not sustainable.
  8. Canadian EV route planning websites/apps

One thing ABRP does better is charging stops/times. It’s more efficient and better for your battery to stop more frequently and keep your charge between 20-80%. You’ll spend less time waiting around on trips if you stop more. ABRP plans like this. Tesla doesn’t, from what I’ve heard. It plans to...
  9. Canadian EV route planning websites/apps

Also, FWIW, Ontario had big plans for EV charging at ONRoute and they’ve been on hold since Doug Ford became premier
  10. Canadian EV route planning websites/apps

ABRP is really great. It’s pretty much the only one out there, as far as I know.
  11. No Whining - Just Excitement ?

THIS ONE. I have a relative that has been known to get mad while passing a Tesla on the freeway because they have “no torque.” I dunno either.
  12. Rivian Guide Contacted Finally! (For Real) ?

I keep watching the trade-in value of my Expedition go up and those Mach-Es hanging out on the lot up the street ?
  13. Which accessories are you configuring?

I'm sure it will be, but like so many things, it remains unconfirmed.
  14. Rivian Guide Contacted Finally! (For Real) ?

The planning value in placing these calls right now is going to be a good predictor of attrition in pre-orders. As you point out, there are a lot of people who gave deposits some time ago that are not actively participating in a forum like this, or otherwise easily measurable by Rivian. Also...
  15. Which accessories are you configuring?

FWIW you can buy an appliance cord at Home Depot that you would connect to the poles instead of the wires, and that would let you use it with a 14-50 outlet. It's the same principle as the pigtail on your electric dryer. Whether you could configure it to communicate the correct 40-amp limit to...
  16. Telematics Control Module Stops by the FCC

Yep, that's the LTE moniker. It's the replacement for 3G. Long-term Evolution saw major adoption around 2012 and will be in use for a long time. 3G is being shut down around the globe, finally, after almost 20 years of widespread use. LTE was designed to be the fallback standard as 5G and 6G...
  17. Rivain R1T vs Ford Lightning F-150

Not to mention the stark difference in maintenance costs. They spend a lot keeping those trucks running smoothly, in labor and in excess fleet units to cover for downtime. Both will be less with the EV.
  18. "Lordstown Motors Week"

In-hub motors will not be salvaged from the wreckage of Lordstown Motors during the inevitable liquidation for pennies on the dollar. Not one of the established vehicle manufacturers has opted for them, and it’s surely not for lack of trying.
  19. Canadians, does your Rivian account show USD or CAD?

I paid in USD, and set my account up with my American address. I just changed it to my address in Canada, since I’d like the opportunity for a test drive thing if they end up doing them, and all my pricing remains in USD.
  20. Canadian Pricing - Will it be adjusted?

Yeah, at this point it would be well worth the effort to find a way to buy it in the USA and then bring it up and pay the tax at the border.
