  1. Electric F150 Lightning EV to be revealed May 19

But, real talk: how long did you need to be intimate with that spec sheet before you decided if this was/wasn’t the truck for you? All these people here acting like they will need weeks to decide, then deciding in mere minutes when Ford drops a spec sheet make my brain hurt.
  2. Electric F150 Lightning EV to be revealed May 19

Yep. This is primarily for commercial customers but everyone else gets it because it’s defined by the EV platform. Commercial customers will want to be able to drive it a short distance to a worksite, power a bunch of tools, and drive it back on a single charge.
  3. Electric F150 Lightning EV to be revealed May 19

Commercial version, comparable pricing to current F-150. That’s the real home run here. This and the E-Transit they showed will change Ford completely. Their stock is going to skyrocket.
  4. Pirelli expanding EV SUV line

The population size is outrageously small so we can’t really say, but my hunch is that 2 different teams have independently arrived at the conclusion that, given certain drivetrain and suspension parameters, 21” wheels offer the best ride/efficiency compromise. We’re just witnessing the tire...
  5. 4.4s 0-60 MPH For 2022 F-150 Lightning EV

Everything about the Mach-E has been exceptional… “for a Ford.” It’s definitely great, and it shows great promise as a show of what we can come to expect from Ford, hopefully.
  6. How long is "longer range" R1S - any intel?

Yes. The coolant loop and cabling for 2 different battery packs/units would be a reliability nightmare.
  7. Overlanding / Adventuring / Camping - R1T vs Bronco

Because it can’t. Time for my dissertation. But it’s just using electricity from burning coal/natural gas! Doesn’t matter. Power plants are more efficient overall than even the best car engines. Even taking generation, transmission, and charging losses into account, electric vehicles still win...
  8. How long is "longer range" R1S - any intel?

It’s not an inverter. The inverters are on top of the motors, hence the 2 DC high-voltage cables going up there. It’s either a charger (probably not) or some other kind of battery management system. The Chevrolet Bolt has a BMS controller built into the pack in a similar fashion.
  9. The Competition Spotted - GMC Hummer EV

License classes generally are based on GVWR, not curb weight. I would bet its GVWR isn’t much higher than an HD Silverado, but who knows?
  10. EV charging in the US is broken: Verge article

Because ideally the government would represent the interests of the people that it represents. Think about the government in the early 1900s. It’s easy to say “well, times were different then,” but I would argue that it’s specifically because of the government that times were different then...
  11. Overlanding / Adventuring / Camping - R1T vs Bronco

I’m the weird one hoping I don’t get called up until like December 2022 because then I’ll definitely be able to take delivery in the USA and save thousands of dollars in tax and exchange ?
  12. Who is Buying This Vehicle?

I lot of off-road people like to judge people that own big SUVs that never go off-road and presume to know why they buy the cars they buy ?
  13. What will we learn on Thursday? A Predictions Thread...

I’m pretty sure front and center in that photo is a camera. The button is under the top lip of the light strip up higher IIRC
  14. Rivian Charging Station in Salida, CO is Under Construction

Technically I think that’s 6 started, if you count the conduits. 3 DCFC and 3 L2.
  15. Class/Category of R1S

Any width measurement over 80“ is including mirrors (probably folded) so you should use the R1S with folded mirrors for accuracy. 80” is the width limit without mirrors set by the NHTSA. Any wider and the vehicle must have the 3 clearance marker lights in front. F-150 and its competition have...
  16. Anybody heard from a guide yet?

probably, but the parts distribution and such will probably be through the service centers all the same.
  17. Calling my shot... Ford Bronco EV

I wouldn’t get too excited, I mean they are also one of Rivian’s main financial backers. It makes sense they’d be excited about it anyway. but we can dream, right?!
  18. Lockable Storage

I don’t think it needs to be specific to Texans either. Plenty of long hunting rifles will fit just great in the Gear Tunnel, would be nice to be able to keep them under a little tighter of a lock.
  19. Lockable Storage

it would be an easy thing to add a PIN lock to it in the software, you should contact support and request that! It’s definitely controlled by the app and main display.
