I don’t really understand the concern, honestly. Cars have been auto-drying their brakes for years. My 2006 Mercedes would apply the brakes just a tiny bit every few minutes when the wipers were on to ensure they stayed warm and dry. It would be trivial for Rivian to do this with software.
It...
That might be why it succeeds, though. At least at first. Lots of non-truck people will be buying it simply because it’s a Tesla truck, only to be very disappointed in how not-very-useful it is.
oh MAN that makes me happy. As a dad of 3 young kids I hope it gets that low. I’m terrified I’m going to really miss my Expedition’s auto running boards.
I’ve always read this like your spot in line doesn’t change, but you might change the line you are waiting in. You’ll never put yourself at the back of the line, but if you change your pack size to one that won’t be produced until later in the year, your date will change, and so on.
I would...
Yeah, this is what I was thinking. We’re talking about two different definitions of flat-towing. They demonstrated “flat towing in a pinch” to recharge on Long Way Up. They got a semi driver in Argentina (I think) to tow them a couple of miles and it added the 20 miles or so of range they needed...
This makes the most sense, 79“ is the realistic limit on width without clearance lights. Full-size pickup segment has bumped right up against this limit for years now.
Probably not as much as you think. One of the engineers in the winter video mentions that one of the coolest things about the drivetrain is you can remove torque just as quickly as you can add it. With so few spinning parts there is far less rotational momentum behind each of the tires than...
They are wired exactly the same, the voltage difference depends on your power company and the requirements in your area.
For a real deep dive into why this is the case, I recommend this video by Technology Connections, but in case you don’t have 25 minutes, here’s a TL;DW.
The reasons for this...
That’s why you need power fold controls on the third row. I have them in my Expedition, it’s nice for accessing the third row from the tailgate when necessary.
I would assume 72“ is on the low end of the range, but probably not the lowest. There have been hints at a Kneel setting which is only used when not moving or at very low speeds, maybe parking garages etc.
I threw some money at MMEDF last month (and have lost about 20% lol)
They seem like they’ve got a great idea, psychedelics for the treatment of adult ADHD, depression, and anxiety. They’re in late clinical trials with a drug. Cheap stock, huge potential, IMO.
Obligatory: not financial advice...
Wow, are you me?
I don’t anticipate doing much off-roading (plan to buy a RZR or two for that) but I do want to be able to hit some easy trails. I wish it could tow more, but I have nothing to tow at the moment so having a bigger vehicle for towing makes little sense.
I’m also hoping my order...
This would make sense for Rivian-to-Rivian (or any EV) charging, but also not, since it could ostensibly output DC directly to the other Rivian and avoid conversion losses.
Indeed they do, but I can reside in the states and visit my wife in Canada for a looooong time before they start to get suspicious hahaha
I would never do it perpetually, but for 4-6 months until the lease on my house is up or the school year is over for my kids? Definitely. Plenty of snowbirds...
