  1. EV Incentives ending on Sept 30? Any workaround?

i dont think the R1s are affected by the incentives at all. are they? I thought they exceeded the price cap.
  2. EV Incentives ending on Sept 30? Any workaround?

I do love that they brought back The midgate. That’s an awesome feature. If i still needed a full size truck id be tempted… then again, the starting price is way too high.
  3. EV Incentives ending on Sept 30? Any workaround?

Seeing a lot of good things about the Silverado EV, but I have no use for a truck bed any more. Too big fo army needs. The R2 will replace my Toyota 4Runner, and I don't see anything else out there that even comes close. I'll keep an eye on Scout, but the R2 speaks to me as my best option.
  4. EV Incentives ending on Sept 30? Any workaround?

No apology needed! Honesty is good. But I am curious - what Chevy are you thinking of? (Long time GM fan - had three Avalanches over the years. Shame they dont' make those anymore, but I don't need that much vehicle these days... )
  5. EV Incentives ending on Sept 30? Any workaround?

Not sure why you question the R2 launch. They are well on track for the R2, and appear well positioned to capture a significant market with it. It sounds like you are not a fan of the company at all. If you don't like their vehicles, their tech, their features, and how the company is being run -...
  6. EV Incentives ending on Sept 30? Any workaround?

Just read that the new spending bill removes EV tax credit and other clean energy incentives. Is there any workaround for this? The R2 is too far away. (Glad I installed solar panels and batteries last year…)

  8. EV Noob here = thoughts on R2 configs?

Of course. Just looking for thoughts.
  9. California's ban on ICE vehicles has been blocked

No one is being forced to do anything. The law only addresses what new cars can be sold in California. That seems a bit hysterical. Freedom of choice in everything is a fantasy. What this law says is that no one will be able to sell a NEW non-zero emission vehicle in California in 2035. I...
  10. Introductions & Welcome Thread đź‘‹

Hello to the forum! I am happy to see a Rivian forum so active already. It's exciting to see an American company producing such a great product in this new EV space. I have an R2 reservation. It is intended to replace my Toyota 4Runner. Other vehicles include an Acura MDX (Mrs R2D2TOO has...
  11. California's ban on ICE vehicles has been blocked

What makes you say it is "obviously bad"?
  12. California's ban on ICE vehicles has been blocked

I have not ever lived in California. So you are saying that if someone buys a new vehicle in another state they can't register it in California? Why? The mandate should not have any bearing on this at all, as it says nothing to car buyers. It only affects sellers of new cars. I'm not...
  13. California's ban on ICE vehicles has been blocked

New ICE vehicles have not been banned in the state - only their sales. If you want a new ICE vehicle, you would be able to go to a neighboring state and get one. I'm sure there will be other options as long as there is demand. Lots of entrepreneurial folks out there. Six years ago I ordered a...
  14. California's ban on ICE vehicles has been blocked

I imagine that is why it was designed to be phased in over time - to minimize such impacts. But it is far from clear that reduced demand would raise ether price of gasoline. There's a good argument that the opposite would occur. Either way, we really will have to largely move away from fossil...
  15. California's ban on ICE vehicles has been blocked

There has never been such a ban, but it may that the details are misunderstood. The mandate referred to only requires that a certain percentage of NEW vehicles sold in the state be zero-emission. It phases in starting with 35% of new cars in 2026, increasing to 68% in 2030, and reaching 100% by...
  16. R2 in new gray / silver color - video & photos (updated with in-studio look)

Yes. Interior should be available in some earthy tones, preferably a tan or saddle brown.
  17. California's ban on ICE vehicles has been blocked

All correct with one small correction - already pointed out. This only applies to new vehicle sales. There is no mandate concerning what kind of vehicle someone can or has to buy.
  18. California's ban on ICE vehicles has been blocked

There is much confusion about this, apparently, probably due to politics. However, there is no "mandate" that requires anyone to buy any particular type of vehicle. There never has been. Not in California, not anywhere in the US.
  19. California's ban on ICE vehicles has been blocked

They already can. Everyone can buy whatever kind of car they want.
