Couple things from my POV. USB A is outdated. All new phones (at least high end ones) come with USB C to C (or lightning) cables. It's the right move to go USB C in a new truck. If you really need to plug in a USB A item just get a super cheap adapter off Amazon and leave in the truck.

I would think a 10-20% conversion rate of pre-orders to deliveries would be considered a MASSIVE success for Tesla.
I know i have 2 preordered (dual and tri motor) .. chances of those fulfilling is almost zero at this point. Just waiting to see if I can make some money off the cult.
Coming from a Tesla, I missed the auto open/close garage door feature. The tapping on the screen twice was annoying.
That said, I actually think this is a better implementation than the auto open/close. At least for me. I often drive past my house to my parents house which is a few houses...
Agreed that it will do well. Not so sure that it will have impressive tech/features. I expect it to have similar or lower features overall to the R1T. Of course any little thing will be hype as a Tesla innovation (ala Apple and them "innovating" things that have been done many times before).
Elon might have sold you on "rocket grade" stainless steel, but he won't sell you one with it. Zero chance from both a cost standpoint and a crash test rating standpoint that the steel is so strong it wont dent.
A lot of the bumper pieces look like cheap plastic. I know the Rivian has its own issues there, but the flat plastic without texture looks awful. And that stainless steel is going to be a nightmare to keep clean IMO. Looks like it gets streaks like the older style stainless appliances did...
Just as a data point. I just called, they were able to order me the 20" AT-Dark and schedule it for Mobile Service (2.5 hours from Service Center). I'm the 2nd owner so definitely no Pre-March pricing .. and the invoice was full website cost for the spare. So no discount here.
Got my truck back from service and they updated it to 22 while it was there. The noise at startup is more noticeable but still less noisy than my model 3 was.
Just had mine in for service on this. Lost all connectivity, then a few days later had like every single warning light come on. It went away after a park and drive though. Got an appointment in like 10 days and they had it for 2 days and were done. Notes say they replaced the TCM.
One thing I...
Interesting that he is only looking at 1 of 2 models that a Company makes for registrations and declaring the entire company a failure. The reason that R1T registrations went down is because they have been building more R1S .
Obviously a short seller
I'm not going out of my way and using a charger that likely takes twice as long in order to save 5 bucks on a road trip. I'll use whichever one is fastest and closet to my route.
Wont be an an issue for Rivian since the charging port is far forward. You will just be parked in the "wrong' stall forwards. Now Lightning and other might have issues with the short cords due to the charging point being farther back from the front on the truck.
Picked this guy up used last month. Previous owner took great care of it. Just got it back from getting Xpel Stealth added, Xpel Plus ceramic and Xpel XR+ tint to match on the front windows and 70% XR+ on the windshield
Loving the Forest Green/Forest Edge combo.
