The Rivian R1T is such a nice departure from traditional angry looking pickup trucks covered in fake vents. Makes all the ICE trucks look the same to me.
I am really happy that Tesla is bringing the CT to market. It will make our automotive landscape more interesting! So much hate towards it online, yet 1M++ deposits show that people want different.

No, I'm not buying one since I have a R1T that fits my style better, but I still think it's super interesting and I'm all for it!

I am highly, highly skeptical of that “leaked” Tesla e-mail.

A human hair is 70 microns thick. To demand less than 10 micron accuracy is unheard of in the automotive industry. I call BS on this one.

100% my opinion as well! BS article!

To put it in perspective for Americans used to inches...
10 microns = 0.00039 inches
A single sheet of 20lb printer paper is 0.004" thick, so slice that paper into 10 full sheets, then measure the thickness of one of those 10 sheets.. that's 10 microns!

Ain't no way a car body is going to be made to 0.00039" tolerance as even precision made ball bearings have a larger tolerance than that figure!!

And this quote comes from Elon...the person who gave us the Model 3...with all it's mis-aligned body panels and trim pieces inside, and no longer warranties squeaks and rattles in it...

Hard to believe this abomination was designed by the same guy who designed the Volvo XC40 (one of the best-looking compact SUVs on the market).

It might be a fake email, but challenging your contractors/ workers to do something nearly impossible and comparing your new vehicle to soda cans and Legos actually seems perfectly on brand for Elon.

Both comments combine dictator and toddler into one stupid communication.

Latest rumor I read is high $70s for high end version. Looks like we will find out soon enough
I do not see that, I see maybe 70’s for the low end, high end well north of that.

I just do not see them wasting the batteries on the trucks at those prices when they can build way more of the 3 and Y. For instance the large battery in a Model Y is 81 kWh, it is estimated the high end CB > 340 miles will be at least 160 kWh. No way they sell one CT for high 70s when they could sell 2 Model Ys with that same 160 kWh batteries for 100k or more.

I believe the rumor is high 70s for the low end .. not the high end.

Expect super high deposit/order cancellations then..

Hi John Doe, This is your Tesla Delivery Specialist... your $39,000 Cybertruck order is ready for delivery.. your final price before DMV fees and state and local sales tax will be $77,999. How will you be paying?

I would think a 10-20% conversion rate of pre-orders to deliveries would be considered a MASSIVE success for Tesla.

I know i have 2 preordered (dual and tri motor) .. chances of those fulfilling is almost zero at this point. Just waiting to see if I can make some money off the cult.

Just like the early Rivian auctions on C&B, Bring a Trailer, etc... if you get yours early enough you just might be able to make a buck or two off the resale.

With possibly sooo many cancellations, they may get through their backlog pretty quickly though?
