No chance. There will be blood in the water if Rivian fails to meet 25k total units after multiple confirmations that it would do so. I'll be in the water waiting for the panic.
Thanks for your review, especially the comparisons with the Audi SQ5 which is an excellent vehicle. Also agree with the carplay comments. It's good to have perspective.
Met a nice gentlemen nearby my office with a Limestone R1T. It looks really, really good in person. I especially like the dark 20" with AT combo. They were even nice enough to give me my first ride in a Rivian! It was nice to get an up close look.
Here are a couple phone pics. I find Limestone...
Thanks for the update - nice to see early adopters gaining equity!
I think most people would be happy with 'just' 600 hp in the dual motor variants.
$8k still seems cheap to get 2x extra motors and another 235 hp.
I had a friend with a Tesla stop by the other day, and I knew he was far from home. I offered my L2 charger as a courtesy, which he politely declined. None of my "friends" would abuse that courtesy, however. When I travel to my parents, they have no chargers nearby and I supercharge a couple...
I'd say your estimate is low but not far off (even at $70k, that's amazingly low depreciation).
In 24 months, there will be at least another 50k R1s made, dual motor variants will be shipping, and initial quality should be higher. By that time the elusive Tesla, Ram, and Chevy EVs could arrive...
Newer vehicles are getting wireless AA. I used it in a rental and it was much nicer than requiring a plug in. Not all vehicles have the capability though.
I understand Carplay's existence is a stop gap until Automakers can do it right themselves. You can cling to it forever if you want, but I'm willing to move to Rivian and Tesla style interfaces.
You could fill a river with the tears shed over Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
Just like physical buttons, we like to hold onto the past. Hear that Blackberry?!
Had to highlight this - can't believe Chevy took that video and shared it. Makes it seem like they are babying the truck. Rivian is doing the right thing and targeting the offroad crowd - since Chevy and Ford are focusing on pavement princesses (until the inevitable Lightning Raptor shows up).
